So for months now, everyone's been wondering how Zoya's going to tear Asad and Ayaan apart, how their love for Zoya is going to make their relationship complicated, how the nikkah is going to happen and break how their relationship is going to survive afterwards, etc etc. However, today, we saw that what might actually break them apart is the oldest thing that brings them together- their own father.
Now this is a rift I can appreciate! It makes sense, it's needed, and it's the elephant in the room. Ayaan has depended all his life on his brother and yet has never taken the time to think about how difficult it is for his bhaijaan to hear about his parents. He has all the faith in the world in his brother, but has never really understood his pain. And now he will- but he will be angry and confused. And I'm sure Razia will add to his emotional fire.
Asad, who's been emotionally cheated all his life, has finally got a bright light in the form of Zoya- even as he's knocked down even further with the most shocking revelation of his life. He's going to have no idea how to deal with his brother's questions because he's got too many of his own, and there's a high chance that Ayaan will consequently misunderstand him.
And so Zoya. She's there, she understands Asad's pain, and she will try to help him. And perhaps Ayaan will misunderstand and blame her in some way or fashion. And so the theory of her coming in between the two brothers will have come true, but not because of some fleeting attraction at the dargah or some sham marriage- but because she has found herself bound to a painful history of two brothers and has to help them find a way out- even if it means she is a barrier between them until everything is resolved.
