Watched the episode. Liked the episode very much. Though earlier in the day, I made light hearted posts, but very much relevant to the theme of day's episode, be it the Hair-styling and Hair-dressers or the territorial or honour fight between the two wild cats, this time it is my episode take on a serious note. I have not read any reviews and at the risk of sounding repetitive, I start off. 😊
Today MEIEJ lived up to its original concept and what a day, it had to be done on its 200th episode. The show was supposed to be about Film Industry with the upper-strata of the Superstar and the underbelly, the lower strata without whom the industry will not exist. Yesterday, this topic was touched by my our posters here. But today, that superstar weight and Underbelly existence was prominently showed through the leads. RK as the Superstar and Madhu as the hair-dresser amidst the entire shoot schedule for 12 minutes brought out the coordination, the conflict, the cooperation that is needed for a production schedule. They beautifully brought out the logistical issues that can upset the entire shoot schedule on the production floor.
The production floor and the shooting scene.
The entire set and shooting was amazing to me and that work place ambience so kicked in for me that I was like...God!!! for how long we bore that stupid kitchen, bedroom and living room drama at RK Mansion and the chawl. This shooting was just great to see. 😃
After a long time, when I watched the episode, I was not concerned of RK and Madhu as that great pair with good chemistry and promise of their own drama which is gripping and interesting. Today I was watching it as if I was an independent observer of the floor and saw how the shooting was going on with the Roll Sound, Camera Rolling, Action from the director, Scene Note from the technician and the cameramen starting their work with the actors doing the work. What did I see today ? A Superstar, a New actress, the production crew, the Hair-dresser from the crew being tormented and ultimately who was looking the most frustrated and tormented of all ?! Not Madhu, but the Director. His face was far more piteous than Madhu's. 😆
The Privileged versus the Underprivileged
Coming to the superstar and the hair-dresser, Madhu was a perfect match to RK in today's drama. I am sure, in real life, at real prod schedules that stars cannot totally disregard the crew. So that way, the way Madhu was shining in dignity was simply superb to see. Else we would never have had people like Saroj Khan or Prabhudeva revered. Those are just the choreographers coming to my mind, but I am sure the hairdressers, costume make up artists etc also, without any fail do reserve their dignity and can command even the actors...except when the director fails to protect them with the starry weight around. Today that was shown clearly. The director was frustrated with RK. And he knew the superstar was being difficult and starts making personal attacks on him before his crew. So he showed his displeasure to Madhu. Madhu who was concerned about reporting only to her attributed boss and responsibilities was reporting to the director that hair was looking good but when he showed his displeasure, understanding his source of frustration, did not argue and was obediant. Clearly the hierarchial structures were being visible to all.
I think I can go awn and awn at the the entire thing because I am in such a daze, I will stop and go by individiual characters today.
VD as Superstar RK
Liked him in his Policeman Wardi. Simply adorable and cute the way he sat with that Dabangay dress of Salman Khan. And the way he played the obnoxious, self-important star, was commendable. As a superstar RK knew where to draw the line. When he incites the heroine to throw away the hair dryer, he goes and rubs salt on Madhu further by saying she is coming in the middle of the frame. This was intentionally made for the director, whose patience could have broken anytime, so instead of continuing on more tormenting, he grabbed the opportunity or getting one point up on the scale with Madhu and the director that he now is willing to finish the scene.😆
And at home, when he got ready early in the morning for his shoot, he was again the apprehensive guy, who was thinking all his well-wishers praying for his fall, defeat. Here it was his mother and Bittuji. In his inflated ego, he is thinking they are praying against him and so he is all solo, he has not yet started seeing that they had actually conspired against him. He still lives in some kind of illusion. 😆
When he sees Bittuji closely chatting with his mother or Madhu, RK is not saying anything to him. He is not yelling at him. Methinks he was so happy that Bittuji decided to be back after resigning that he is now compensating Bittuji with his heart-felt desire of going against himself emotionally by siding with his mother and Madhu. He is okay with this arrangement with his long time friend. 😛 Shows his lonesomeness inspite of everything he has in life.
DD as Hair-dresser Madhu
Liked her red and black simple suit. Minus that dupatta, it is veru much my taste. I wear suits sans dupatta and have been wearing like that since 2000 when Delhi was like still...where is your dupatta ?! 😆 DD's makeup and hair-style was all very appealing to me. Because all of it points to a working woman without lehraate hue, udte hue baal (no flowing and blowing hair). Madhu as that hair-dresser today looked so confident and skillful that I was envious of her confidence and deft hands. She was doing her work and taking her position back at her corner, watching the shoot. Everything about her attitude and persona was "I mean business and not non-sense". Liked her very much. Well today DD and Madhu, finally made sense to me though I never complained DD's role-play in kitchen as well. DD actually acts very well when doing working roles such as cutting vegetables, cooking, folding clothes, or this hair-dressing, she has skillful hands and all of this today added life to Madhu's character as the underbelly/backbone of the Film Industry.
Bittuji
Today, he looked such a compassionate person. He was the only one very much worried for Madhu. Trishna was worried, but Bittuji seeing it in front of his eyes was very worried and I liked that about him today.
Radhaji
yes, they showed her in the beginning as a person who knew the dynamics of shooting and crew roles and all, but now her confidence that the 3 days challenge will bring out something good was just too much for me to absorb. But that is just my apprehension and I will not blame her, because she has a stake in the overall plan. She wants Madhu to win and that is her investment and of course she will be bullish (optimistic) about it.
Trishna and Padmini
They have mellowed down. Padmini far more since her cursing. But then I should not complain. What bombastic dialogues I would want them to give her now. But yes as a house-keeper, I would like to remind Padmini that "beti ke gham mein, hari-patti ki sabji fridge mein rakhna bhool gayin" ( that she forgot to keep the green-leafy vegetables in the refridgerator in her daughter's pain). 😆 The spinach she had bought the previous night when Radhaji came to visit them had now been there out in the stand for more than 36 hours and hence the wilting. 🤣Watch the scene.
And Arti Puri, her voice is hoarse. Seems she is having throat infection. But how come she forgot that she still has that 20 lakhs from Balraj ??? What a blooper.
And finally Rishbala and their challenge between them. Amidst the studio drama of the Superstar Versus the Hairdresser, I could not much give weight to their personal equation. Not sure, how I will perceive this tomorrow. Because I do know that Madhu other than just being the hair-dresser, very well was throwing her weight on her Ex-husband if he was throwing his weight on his Ex-Biwi. Not just a dramatic requirement, but the chemistry between RK and Madhu clearly is inflammable. Their love story did not flare up so much as their hate story is now flaring up. When in each other's personal spaces, they mock each other as Superstar and ordinary girl, but in their eyes, they treat each other so equal and yet so worm like worthy of all squashing. Its just interesting to see without applying any principles of regular romance and just watch them like two wild cats.
