I understand Gopi is trying to show Rashi the right way ie.. Making her see that lies bring nothing but trouble. But I think she is going about it wrong. There are different reasons for that. See the way Rashi and Gopi look at things in itself is different.
Gopi considers that if a lie hurts someone, even if it brings short term joy, it should still not be said. But she takes blame and lies if she thinks that will help others. So from Gopi's PoV, a lie for the greater good is alright or lets say a lie that does not profit oneself but other's is alright.
To Rashi, it is the exact opposite.
There is another reason they have so different an opinion. Gopi has, in all her life found that lying has got her nothing. Remember the mistakes of Rashi she lied about and took on herself at various stages of her marriage? All those times have brought nothing but misery to Gopi and hence she knows that lies are not the way to go. Gopi has along with Ahem, learnt a valuable lesson in the Anitha track when their hiding and lying only led to more complications than otherwise. So Gopi, in her experience knows that lies do not help her at all.. Not in the wrong run anyway.
Now let us look at Rashi..
She lied to get married to Jigar. She lied to get back with Jigar. She lied about wanting a child. She lied to Gopi about her marriage and lied to get Gopi into trouble. All her lies did have their impact. They gave her short term victories and long term ones too. Her psyche is for instant gratification and Rashi gets it when she lies. Take for instance today. Her lies about the Dhobi and the Undiyo got her off didn't they?
So no wonder Rashi thinks that she is smart to depend on lies to get her way.
What Rashi does not realize and what Gopi is failing to show her is the fact that these small lies can lead to major things in the future. Yes. Rashi got married to Jigar because of the lie but she also faced a time when she was thrown out of MM due to the same lie. Yes, Rashi got high when Gopi was insulted because of her lies but the same lies made her look evil in Koki's eyes and got Gopi the place she has earned with the Modis.
I think at the end of this track when Rashi has to milk the cows herself, Gopi will tell her the above maybe in a shorter version. I am not sure Rashi will understand but there it is😊
However, what would have been a better way in my PoV is to let Rashi face the music everytime she lies instead of protecting her. For example if Gopi had let Koki know the truth about the clothes and the truth about Undiyo, yes, sure Rashi would have cribbed but the root cause of these lies would have been fixed. Rashi would have become more responsible and less lazy which is why she lies to get out of the jobs.
Gopi is taking the round about route for a simple problem IMHO. Like the rest of the fish family members, Gopi by protecting Rashi is spoiling her. Maybe the milkman issue will make Gopi think differently.
The only good thing about all this is that like Koki, Gopi also believes in something and is working towards it unlike the fish family that cares naught about how their DIL lives her days. 🤢
