"Huh," he rubbed the light stubble on his chin, looking away from me again. "I see you've done well for yourself," I mentioned to his desk in front of me. "Yea," he looked down at the mass of papers, "been busier than ever. We've built a small community college, new town library, remodeled town hall, and added onto the high school all this year."
"Wow," I commented. "Town's growing fast," he looked back up at me, those beautiful eyes looking back into mine. He leaned forward a seconds and I could almost swear I watched his nostrils flare slightly. "What about you?" he asked, suddenly leaning back into his chair. "I'm a free lance photographer now," he smiled and my mind went back to the summer.
"Come on," I coaxed from the shore, "just one more," I held one finger up to Swayam, who was knee deep in the water and glaring playfully at me. "I need one more good shot and then we're done," I declared for probably the one hundredth time today. "Only one more," he sighed, arms dropping back to his side as I smiled at him.
"Thank you!" I called out to him as he dunked under the water. I poised my camera and waited for him to come back up. His head came up slowly and I started firing off shots as the rest of him came into view, I suppressed a sigh as he stalked toward me. Beads of water rolling down his lean body, traveling places I wanted to explore. "Little slower," I commanded, but not for the sake of the pictures, I just wanted to savor the feeling that was washing over me as he came towards me, lust in his eyes.
His modeling was rewarded with a fiery kiss, his woodsy scent melded with the salt water smell and permeated under my skin as his mouth moved over mine. Heat flooded me as his arms wrapped around me and I could almost hear the sizzling as the water evaporated between us. When he finally let me pull back I smiled up at him trying to catch my breath as he watched me. "Now," I turned away from him, grabbing his hand, "we only have one more place to shoot and then I'm all yours," I tried hauling him after me, but he had pulled back.
"Oh no you don't," he grumbled pulling me back to him. "Please," I begged, my bottom lip slipping out. "I just wanna get a few on those rocks over there and then I'll be done," his eyes narrowed, "I promise."
"Fine," he sighed heavily and then pulled me after him.
"Ah," he crossed his arms over his chest which got me back to the present. I wanted to mention that I still used the camera he had gotten me for my birthday, but thought better of it. "Yep," I said and then we lapsed into an awkward silence for just a moment. "Was it raining earlier when you got here?" he asked, looking out the window again. "No," I answered, puzzled by why he was asking that until I followed his gaze and noticed the down pour outside. "Hope your windows aren't down," he remarked, still looking out the window. "I can't believe it's raining here," I sighed, "how unusual for September."
"Well here lately it's become more unusual for it not to be raining," he shot me a glance then turned back to the window, "set this job back quite a bit." "Oh," was all I said as I watched the rain falling.
It was raining the night I realized I loved him, I thought as I looked over at him watching the rain drops intently. I remember sitting next to him in his car and looking over at him, completely angry with him for ruining the movie we had been watching by telling me the end. "I already said I was sorry," he sighed as we pulled out into the street. "I don't' care," I muttered because I knew I was being childish."If you didn't want to know you shouldn't have asked," he looked over at me. "Maybe you should have just kept your big mouth shut," I shot back.
"Sharon you were talking through the entire thing," he was still watching me as we moved toward my house. "Just take me home," I sneered, "you think you can manage to do that without ruining the rest of my evening?" He glared at me then. "I'll try," he spat. He didn't succeed though because only moments later we were hit by another car that sent us spinning toward the drainage ditch. "Swayam," I screamed as the truck slipped over the edge and into the ditch. "Sharon," he roared and then he was holding me as we crashed into the ground. Everything went quiet for a few seconds as I looked around, the car was lying on its side in the ditch, but something was keeping me from laying on top of the door. I felt something warm on my hands and looked down to see blood. "Oh god," I cried, feeling myself for any injuries but there were none, until I realized the blood was not mine. "Swayam?" I called out, but there was no answer. Something heavy on my arm kept me from moving, so I turned to push the object off of me and saw Swayam. He was holding me to his chest with one arm, blood covered the side of his face as it pressed into the ground below. "Swayam!" I screamed and tried to scramble around so that I could see the extent of the damage. "Swayam please don't die on me," I cried, lifting his arm. "Swayam please wake up," I cried harder. "Please don't leave me," I pressed my face to his chest and sobbed. "I love you," the admission slipped out, but I did not try to take it back. My life was falling apart right before my eyes as he lay barely breathing beneath me, but I knew that I wanted nothing more than for him to wake up and repeat those words back to me. "Sharon," he groaned softly, my head shot up and his beautiful brown eyes looked up at me. I have never been happier in my entire life to see someone's eyes.
"Swayam! Thank god!" I yelled wrapping my arms around him. His heart beat softly against my ear, when I was satisfied he was in fact going to live I pulled back, "Don't you ever do that to me again!" I yelled. "Sorry baba," he chuckled tiredly and then pulled me back into his arms. "I'm not going anywhere," he whispered in my hair, "I love you too."
