The Daredevil Shaleen Malhotra of Arjun – Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek

Arjun – Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek is of course an action packed crime investigation series that you watch every weekend. You see cases getting solved every week. Some with ease and some at a risk to the lives of ACP Sameer Rathore (Behzaad Khan), Arjun Suryakant Rawte (Shaleen Malhotra), Chhotu (Ketan Karande), Shree (Siddharth Sen) and Aayesha Kapoor (Shital Shah). Whether it is a neck brace that Shree had to wear or wounds that Arjun, Rathore and others have had to sustain. The action has been thrilling.

Well, what to us seems exciting sometimes actually risks the lives of the actors. In Saturday, 9th February 2013 episode, Arjun (Shaleen Malhotra) was to do a stunt where he was to wear a harness, put a foot on the hood or the car and go over the car and jump off. This over a moving car. The harness was to protect him from a fall. So, the time came for a rehearsal. The action director, Gurbachan Singh, fondly called as Masterji, asked him to do a run up and step on the hood of the car, reach the roof and stop there for a shot to be taken from inside the car. Shaleen took his mark. He did the run up and stepped on the hood of the running car from opposite direction. Now, comes the true athlete in play. Shaleen during a stunt sequence is always on the alert. He assesses the situation but his adrenalin is on a high. He ran towards the car and the momentum was such that stopping on the roof was not possible. so he completed the sequence by jumping off and landed on his feet, squarely. To Masterji's delight. This was the exact stunt that was to be executed, though with the help of the harness. So he asked Shaleen if he was going to do it without it one more time. And Shaleen who is always ready for an adventure (there is a story here and we shall bring that to you separately), agreed wholeheartedly

They went for a take and voila! It was fabulous. Shaleen ran towards the approaching car, stepped on the hood, on the edge of the windscreen, ran on the roof and jumped off the car as it moved away. Sounds easy? No. Nissar Parvez, Producer of the show, was on the set and had watched the shot from afar. He had then rushed to the scene and expressed his concern, "That was a risky shot. Shaleen could have been hurt." All went well. Shaleen was neither hurt, nor did his knee feel the jerk of the jump. He is a disciplined man and had taken the risk because he knew he could do it. But this daredevil called Shaleen Malhotra is what makes the show unique. The stunts, the action sequence are not just performed with care but with enthusiasm that will make you catch your breath.
