MURDER- a popular franchise that started in 2004. In 2004, although VEER ZAARA was the biggest grosser of that year, MURDER was technically the biggest hit of that year based on returns over investment. The film starred Emraan Hashmi and Malika Sherawat, and the steamy scenes coupled with other ingredients made the film a success. It made Emraan Hashmi a star.
Then of course there was MURDER 2, which was a huge success and was also one of the biggest hits of it's year (2011) due to it's return over investment. There was sex and thrill in the film as well which helped make the film a success.
Emraan Hashmi has been synonymous with the brand MURDER. But, this time, for MURDER 3, it's Randeep Hooda.
There would be many who feel that there is no point in taking the franchise further without the man who built it (Emraan Hashmi). There has been surprise since it was announced that Randeep would be the leading actor in MURDER 3. Also, the film kinda just got announced randomly. The promos haven't shown anything different when compared to other films from Vishesh Films. It may seem as if there is not much to look forward to in MURDER 3.
However, in this case, it seems the content will be the winner. The film is said to have a strong plot, and there has been positive pre-release feedback. For example, Taran Adarsh has seen the film, and he called it one of the best films to come out of Vishesh Films and called it a plot-driven film with a gripping screenplay.
At the box office, the opening of the film will be decent, due to the MURDER franchise/brand value and the combination of hot scenes/thrills (as shown in the promos). After the opening weekend, the film could sustain due to possible strong word of mouth. I think the film will click more with the masses.

Opening Day: 6 crores net
Opening Weekend: 22 crores net
Lifetime: 45 crores net
Overall Box Office Verdict: Hit
