What attracted me to this show was RK's character. While it is not the first time in hindi daily soap we were seeing the love of and for a woman transform a monster to a man, it was the first time we saw the hero unfailingly use both his head and his heart to understand his own feelings and that of his beloved's.
There were no stupid misunderstandings and even the ones which came our way were resolved soon enough thanks to the smart hero and heroine who were quick to connect the dots and see the larger picture.
RK and Madhu are not perfect human beings and have their own flaws but they acknowledge them and try to overcome them, either on their own or with the help of the other. Their basic traits - RK's arrogance and wit and Madhu's super sensitivity and zeal - have remained. Rishabala's USP so far has been the strong empathy these two have for each other, so strong that they feel each other's pain as well as happiness as strongly as their beloved does.
Now after all this if they were to show that RK was acting all the time, putting on the greatest of his performances to wreak revenge on Madhu, the beauty of the show is ruined forever. Needless to say it makes no sense whatsoever because the so called performance was on display even when Madhu wasn't around.
The big question then is if he wasn't taking revenge then why would he break the marriage? What reason could be good enough for it?
In my opinion, I fail to see any reason which is big enough to justify it (except maybe RK being under the impression that he may not live long and wants Madhu to move on, a reason which has already been shot down by the producer). Now why is this? They had earlier shown how RK tells Madhu that the biggest wound anybody can inflict is the wound to the soul inflicted by one's own when they betray you. He wanted to spare her of that wound when he hid the fact that Mallik tried to kill him and hastily closed the case.
If he could go to this extent when he was not yet fully in love with her, how could he stoop to this level when knowing how much she loves him, he breaks her heart and soul by holding back from completing the marriage? Is he not inflicting the same wound, the betrayal by your own? What is the meaning of RK's impassioned speech in this clip? (from 8.00 onwards)
The CVs are treading on dangerous territory. Hope they know what they are doing and are not blinded by short term trp gains for long term loss of viewership.
