I was reading Manoj Bajpai's interview posted here in the forum...Was thinking about his crackling Debut in Ram Gopal Varma's Satya...

I then Realized how massively has he changed the face of Bollywood cinema...And was one of the most instrumental person in bringing parallel closer to Main stream cinema...Some of the points..

1. He said it is completely okay to make a movie with sweaty faces..unknown people when bollywood was going gaga over Kjo's Candy floss..and even he himself was fresh of Success of Rangeela... ..Satya -- movie unanimaously named in the top 10 bollywood films of all time...and then folloed with company

2. He is instrumental in all the big different directors of today... Anurag Kashyap says he learnt every bit of filmmaking from RGV working under him...Madhur Bhandarkar -- one of the instrumental film makers in making women oriented films financially viable... Shimit Amin -- Director of Chak de India,Ab Tak Chappan...Sriram Raghavan -- Director of Ek Hasina thi... Vishal Bharadwaj worked under RGV for a while..even did music for Satya...

3. One of the first producers to make small budgeted films..and make profits...movies like kaun..showing that making cinema appealing to niche audience is okay unless you make good financial decisions...even got national award for Shool

4. Made Horror genre come back with a bang...

5. Showed the importance of camera angles in a story ...when bollywood was using conventional angles..

6.Made sexy look classy -- Rangeela !!!!

7. One of the instrumental makers in making short film culture of today popular by making movies on a shoe string budget...movies like kaun were made in 10 lakhs or so...

Introduced many actors like Manoj Bajpai, Rajpal Yadav, Randeep Hooda,Urmila...Vijay Raaz...list is huge actually...around 20 to 30...

Produced Dil se , Ab Tak Chappan...and many other unconventional movies...

Sure he is crap now...but I think he is one the most important filmmakers of India..and if Infia today has different film makers...and viable market for niche cinema...a huge chunk of credit goes to this man...especially since he started in the early 1990's...infact there is a lot to say...

But I would like to hear opinions !!! It is sad that stupid filmmakers KJO keep making fun of him(sure he is crap now...but still...where is the respect??)...

Sure you know...but many people have made bad movies...this popular media has made a mess out of his career due to his one pathetic work...while his masterpieces just went into oblivion...

Many people have bad phases...and even after aag...he made Sarkar Raj... even Raktha Charithra I was decent...Nishabd was good actually(people never watched the movie but frowned upon the concept..if you see the movie you will see how beautifull he captured emotions of Big B !!!

Again..he is bad now !!! I dont think he deserves the crap he gets from popular media...when creativeless freaks like Sajid khan and KJO run around as some kind of critics defying rebel film makers ...especially Sajid Khan!!

He still remains as one of my favorite director. I think I've observed a lot of technicalities in his films. His films may bomb at the box office, but they have quality production.

Also include Abbas Tyrewala (jaane tu ya jaane na director) worked in a lot of RGV films.
