CHAPTER 10

"mam" said a voice

Manyata was rudely shook from her thoughts

M: who is it? She said very angrily😡

And she quickly hid her precious velvet box away from view

U: it's me uday

M: did not I tell the security not to allow anyone enter my room. I said I wanted to be left alone. Who let you in? I am gona fire him right now😡

U: sorry mam. The security did tell me that you wished to be left alone. But I received an urgent call from ramohan group of companies. They want to prepone the meeting to today evening. They had arranged a meeting with us next week

M: I don't care and please leave me alone

She was already irritated with uday because of that unnathi's incident and now he was here to disturb the peace of mind she regained when she gave herself too udayveer's memories

U: but mam, it is a 25 crore worth deal. our enemy company is waiting for an opportunityto make us look like fools in front of the whole business community. They have not yet forgiven us for stealing their deal last month.They have already been very interested with this project . if they sense any weakness from our side, they will not rest till the deal becomes theirs. This deal is a question of our company's prestige too

M: go

U: mam, but

M: go and get the car ready, I will meet you down in 5 minutes. And you should drive. Is that clear?

Manyata goes and freshens herself and locks up all her precious articles back into its place. She takes the files to be presented and locks her cabin and goes down to meet uday. Uday was ready with the car

Manyata got into the front seat of the car and then uday started the car. The first 15 minutes was driven in complete silence.

Then manyata broke the silence

M: its rammohan's cheap game. He did not want us to get the deal. That is why he preponed this meeting. Uday you will present our case in front of them. Iam not feeling good, so you will do it

U: yes mam. If they are trying to cheat us then we too must be prepared for them

The meeting was arranged at chitragiri some 90 kms from Mumbai

All along their drive uday and manyata discussed the deal and clarified doubts that arose. There was no sign of the previous tension on manyata's face.

They soon reached the meeting place. It was a big hotel owned by rammohan. It was situated on a hilly area. There were huge lawns surrounding the hotel structure and beautiful gardens too. It was indeed a very romantic place to be in. They were soon taken to a big conference room

There were around 12 men seated over there. Manyata moved forward and shook hands with all of them. They all settled down soon

M: my personal assistant will be presenting our part of the deal, uday, please if you would

U: good evening gentlemen. I am uday and I am a representative of devgarh group of companies. The project package we are putting forward is meant to give employment to around 50thousand youth. As we are aware india has the necessary human resources but does lack proper training. We intend to train the youth'

Manyata looked around. All the persons were very much attentive. This deal will be ours , she thought😃

The conference was a huge success. Uday literally took the investors into the palm of his hands. They were really happy with him and signed for a 10 year deal against the old 5 year deal. It brought another 30 crore profit to manyata's company. The meeting got over late evening. Manyata waited for uday at the door. She was smiling at him.😲 WHAT!!!! SHE WAS SMILING AT HIM? he just could not believe it. What followed next was enough to sent him into shock😲

Manyata came forward and hugged him. it was just an ordinary hug between 2 friends. Uday stood like a statue, unable to move with shock.

M: go and refresh yourself uday. You really did a great job today

Manyata was extremely pleased with uday. Right from college days she knew that he had the gift of the tongue. He could easily convince people to support his views. Manyata lied to uday that she was unwell. She was sure he would be able to easily achieve this deal. She wanted to give him a chance to prove himself. All her resentment towards uday which she had, since today morning disappeared. She was genuinely pleased with him

He was indeed a huge asset to her company. And she was always right in all her decisions😆

Rammohan had arranged them rooms to stay for the night as it was risky to drive back to Mumbai at night. They were a lot of hairpin bends on the way and the place was also accident prone. Many innocent lives were lost on that road

R: rooms 136 and 137 are arranged for you both. Go and fresh yourself and come down to the restrobar. Lets celebrate this deal from there

Uday and manyata was given 2 adjacent rooms. They freshened themselves. As uday returned from the bath room he saw manyata waiting for him in his room. He was really surprised. She wore a sleeveless black gown that reached her knees and high pointed heels. It was not an exposive dress, but she looked like a goddess in that dress😳

Uday's hear skipped a beat seeing the flawless beauty inside his room

M: thanks so much uday. You really did a great job today

U: thanks mam, uday said flushed😳

M: call me manyata when we are alone. You can call me mam from the office

U: ok manyata

uday was feeling embarrassed. He was standing half naked in front of manyata. His shirt was on the bed. And manyata showed no sign of leaving. She was staring at him as if she was solving some mystery. Then manyata breaks the silence

m: are you not getting ready to go down

U: actually I am not really interested in these sort of parties. So I think I should hit the bed now.

M: uday, you really are old fashioned.😆 Come on na,you are not an old fellow but a young chap. Come on uday, atleast give me some company please

U: ok, but let me change first

M: ok

And she goes and sits on the sofa watching him

U: (embarrassed) can you wait outside while I change, please

M: ok, innocent boy. She leaves the room and smiles remembering uday's behavior. He was so sweet in one way

Uday quickly changed his shirt and came outside

Manyata was waiting for him there

Manyata cane forward and locked her arms with his and told him

M: let's go down uday

Poor uday. He would surely die of shock by the end of the day if manyata behaves this good towards him.

They went to the restrobar and settles down on a far away table. Manyata asks the waiter to bring her and uday a drink

U: I don't want as I don't drink

M: come on uday, what sort of life do you lead? Who does not drink these days? Don't you want to have some spice in your life? Please have one to celebrate this deal, please

The waiter returns with their drinks, wine for uday and beer for manyata

Manyata takes her glass and finishes it in one go. Uday looks at her with great astonishment

M: drink uday😊

Uday takes the glass to his mouth, he feels disgusted . but then he takes a sip. Then he gulps it down soon

M: so how was it?

U: it was ok (making a face)😕

Alcohol in them removes the control over their tongue. They began to talk very freely. Drinks continued to appear and disappear. Someone came and asked manyata for a dance and she obliged

The person who was dancing with manyata was touching her unnecessarily in all parts. She was feeling uncomfortable too

Uday who was watching all this got irritated with that person. He went to the dance floor, caught the person's collar and hit him on his nose

U: don't you try to touch her with your filthy hands. Is that clear?😡

The person soon left the place.

Manyata looked at uday with admiration. She takes his arms and they move outside

They reach outside. It was a slope with grass on it. the sky looked beautiful. Dew had fallen on the grass and the grass was wet and slippery. Manyata asks uday to sit on the grass while she looked at him with admiration

M: uday, thank you so much .😳 I really don't know how to thank you

She was standing on the slippery grass, drunk and without much balance. Her heels snapped and she fell backwards. She rolled down all the way till the concreted road. She landed in the middle of it

Uday was shocked seeing it. he ran behind her. She was lying there groaning in pain.

Uday tried to lift her, but her ankle was sprained and she cried out in pain.there were a lot of scratches on her body and blood was oozing out of some of the wounds

M: uday its paining. I cant walk. I feel like I am dying😭

Help me uday

Uday did not know what to do. He wanted to give her a relief from her pain

He took her in his arms and walked towards the hotel.

Manyata locked her arms around his neck

As it was late night, there were no hotel boys around. Uday took her to the lift only to see that the lift was closed for repairs. Their room was in the 5 th floor. Uday carried manyata to her room climbing all the stairs. All along the way manyata and uday stared at each other in silence. Their eyes spoke volumes to each other.

Uday took manyata to her room and placed her on the bed. He removed her slippers he went to the bath room took some water and a bottle of dettol. He tore a towel and dipped it in the dettol solution

M: it will pain uday, please I don't want, please

U: no, manyata it wont, I promise you.

Then he applied the dettol solution on her forehead

She did cry in pain😭

U: its nothing princess

M; what did you call me?😲

U: sorry I should not have called you that

M: no you can call me princess. I love it😳

He then cleaned her wounds on her elbow and knee., the dress she wore was torn in that fall and her thighs were visible, uday swallowed all the thoughts that came to his mind

As he cleaned the wound on her knee he felt something , some unknown feeling, something he had never experienced before, something heavenly. Somewhere in his mind he said" this beauty will be mine"
