Don Ko Dekhna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Hai
[23 Oct 2006]

Don has proved to be a disaster at the box office. Never before a Shah Rukh Khan film got a beating like this. Inspite of the media hype, from some of the media partners, the film has bombed. Tickets were going begging on Saturday evening at all the major movie houses. At Inox, a major multiplex at Nariman Point in Mumbai, there were people who had booked in advance and were trying of offload their tickets at half price and yet could not find any takers. A girl at the multiplex said "Even if someone paid me, I would not see this film." Viewers are being seen walking out of the film during the intermission. Khalid Mohammed writes, "If someone suggests a visit to this no-brainer… don't."

Akshay Kumar is having the last laugh because everybody thought that Don would wipe out his Jaanemann. But purely on word of mouth, people have shifted their loyalties from Shah Rukh Khan to Akshay and its Jaanemann that has started picking up in the movie theatres. The fact that Don has bombed at the box office is being hushed up but the film is so unbearable that it will be impossible for the movie makers to fill up the seats, although they will start announcing that they have collected crores, knowing that the NRI audience particularly in America and UK will shell out fancy dollars and pounds on the weekends before they get the news that the film is a disaster.

To top it all Amitabh has released his Bhojpuri film in UP and Bihar thereby killing whatever little market Don would have had.

I think we will get a clearer picture in a weeks time. It may have done well overseas in the first week but in India it sure has dipped. Either way I don't believe any of the articles unless one sees the figures.

Well if we have to take a full summary. BOI says that Tuesday onwards the collections for Don have dipped and if it continues to dip it will not be declared a hit. BOI has always been upbeat about SRK movies yet they have been pessimsitic from Day 1 about Don. If IndiaFM trade analyst has been pessimistic, if rediff is uncertain about how it will pull through and now with Stradust compounding that the actual story may be quiet different from what SRK and FA would like us to believe, the actual truth may be that Don has tanked. All these sources barring Stardust have been big supporters of SRK. The movie must have tanked but still there is a lot of hush hush about it and that is why mixed reports are coming. that also explains why he has gone and made a desperate statement in his interview that my muslim brothers will be kind on me on Eid. It means that even he is aware of the results and is now cashing on sympathy from a certain sect to save his movie from being decalared a disaster at the box office.

Even if DON recovers the money,It wouldnt do any good to SRK or FA....DOn is only scorned at,rebuked and written off.....

SRK's KANK and DON might have been able to recover their money, but these movies wouldnt surely be braceted among the best movies of the year(RDB,Lage Rao Munnabhai,Omkara qualify for that)

STill SRK's head hasnt deflated 🤢

Here's an article

SRK reveals the true DON 'collections'
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Thursday, October 26, 2006]

Everyone's jumping on to the DON bandwagon after the film's unprecedented success the world over, except for a few who can't get over the fact that their prediction about DON wouldn't work been proved wrong!

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani and director Farhan Akhtar accompanied Shahrukh Khan to unveil the new DON collection by the leading international clothing brand, Louis Philippe, earlier this week

The brand had asked SRK to make a special appearance at a boutique in Mumbai to launch the signature collection of shirts, jackets and blazers, which he actually wore in DON

Needless to add, there was a stampede of sorts when the King Khan arrived wearing a smart jacket which had a cheeky line (in true SRK style), "When I Die Bury Me Down So That The Whole World Can Kiss My Ass"

SRK signed a message on the walls of the boutique which said, "DON was here"!

He needs to stop kidding himself😆 ... HE needs to Wake up and smell the coffee 😆

I agree Buffie. His interviews of late are sounding so ludicrous. He seems to be a smitten man counterattacking all his critics and saying that he is definitely going to feature in a sequel to Don and even if Farhan does not make it, he will, and that Media is stupid to compare the two movies. I have never seen SRK so unguarded and injured by the backlash he has recived from the media, and from the public - that too two in a row. 😆

I know,he is on this self glorification trip...here's another tidbit about SRK

Bitter-sweet symphony

Shah Rukh Khan
One of the perks of superstardom is that yes-men who think you can do no wrong surround you. So we don't blame King Khan for his streak of megalomania. But even being at the top can't incubate you from scathing remarks for a not-so-great film.

So we really had a good laugh when we read about SRK's comments on film critics in a national daily yesterday.

SRK said, "There was a time when we respected critics. But nowadays, there are more of them with less knowledge; both their criticism and appreciation should not be taken seriously."

So what kind of criticism would you like, Sir? Bitter chocolate with a cherry on top? Sorry, we don't do that flavour.

SRk is really taking the audience for granted and thinks we'd accept whatever crap he dishes out...Aamir and Hrithik have tasted more success this year, they've garnered both critical acclaim and audience's acceptance....Looks like SRK's getting insecure, thus all the pompous talk, self glorification and lack of respect for the audience's sensibilities ......

When media takes you on a high, you go along with it and everyone in the media is your friend. When media comes up with genuine criticism, then your inflated ego which cannot handle teh criticsim makes you backlash against the media itself. I am not saying that media is right always. But look at the enormous and unanimous reproach he has faced by the media for Don2 and the negative feedback for KANK. Yet he covers up his insecurities by denigrating the media this time. His next target will be the audience itself where he will say that people lack the sensibilties to appreciate his talent.

I think that this guy is talented but he has allowed his real life persona to prevail and overshadow the chracters that he sets out to play in the movies. And being pompous over that does not help. This is surely the begining of an end of a superstar. It happened to Rajesh Khanna, to Shatrughan Sinha. No reason why it will not happen to Shahrukh Khan. ANother thing is that he has started looking ill of late which is also not helping his movies.

I will go by the reports that this movie has tanked in India. Barring collections on Eid which is Monday and Sunday this movie is sure shot going to tank. SRK cannot deny what is coming to him. He has to accept the writing is on the wall for him. He needs to go for an image and attitude change otherwise take retirment.
