Hi All,
I have been listening to the debate for a long time that Ganga has suffered more or Anandi has suffered more.
So I thought of starting the poll analytically. I feel that both physical abuse and emotional abuse are equally tortorous. They create havoc in the woman's minds
For me Anandi and Ganga's situations are differents, both are victims, one is a victim of physical abuse and other is a vicitim of mental, emotional abuse and rejection.
Feel free to leave comments, but no bashing. This poll is purely for analysis.

Sup I agree with you that the two situations cant be compared and neither we can say which is more painful. Both can have disastrous impacts on a person's well-being hence comparison is unreasonable.

Any violence emotional/physical leaves a person scarred and the comparison is too odious...

I dont think that the distinction is as black and white as physical vs. emotional.
Because those who are physical abuse also suffer emotional abuse, it is not just that their (physically abused) scars are on the outside, but internally they are happy. They are scarred internally too. So I think yes, physical abuse is more tortuous because in reality it is physical + emotional abuse they have to go through. It is not that ratan keeps ganga emotionally happy, even though he takes a torch and burns her legs.
However, there are cases where people with internal strength of mind (like ganga) can survive the physical abuse. The abuser can abuse their body but does not get to get into the inner recesses of their mind. And so a physically abused person may not collapse unlike that of a weaker emotionally abused person.
Here, even if outside scars are not seen (or inflicted), the degrading of their sense of self and personality eats away at them and erodes all elements of self-respect.

Hi Agree with you, there is not a black and white distinction. But you know what there are studies happening around the world as to what constitutes violence against women. In India Physical abuse is so common that, if a man does not physically abuse, he is considered a saint, however derogratory he may be towards woman, emotionally. What I want to bring out is that the man if he does not physically abuse, is not necessarily a saint but can be worst kind of person, if he treats women like dirt.

Then, I think you should rephrase your question to "Is a man a saint if he emotionally neglects/abuses a woman even if he does not physically abuse a woman?"
That would be more apt. Your current question is a little offensive.

You mean Ganga is not emotinaly abusd? A physical abuse is also a mental abuse. Both r painfull specialy for a women ek physical abuse mentaly jyada hurt karta h.rape iska sabse bhayanak aspect h. And Ganga ne 14 ki age me wo v saha h jo jyadatar child brids ko sehna padta h.khas kar jab uski shadi ek aged man k saath ho.

i think physical totures also create mental torture ,when we physicaly hurt we do cry ,which infact creates mental torture, its a very dangerous type of abuse in which person can die .In mental torture which anandi faced isnt small ,it s very painful ,but anandi had every suport and no physical pain like ganga and ganga has a family like monsters that makes ganga s pain intolerable

Where there is physical abuse or domestic violence, there is also emotional abuse, like in ganga's case.

there is no such case where there was only domestic violence but no emotional abuse.

I agree, aganga had both physical and mental abuse to the most crude level...no ones pain in bv till now can be compared to Ganga's pain..not just anandi's...
