And yes ... SO true about the oldschool bit. But his eyes were ... you know ... averted. THroughout the i-got-you-an-iPad convo, his gaze was averted and he JUST wouldn't look up at her. If it was Asad taking care of her as family ... wouldn't he be a lil more ... assertive and less furtive ? :/

Don't know - but I feel that the confidence to look up in the eye in a relation comes when you have a name to that relation or you don't really care about it. Like a business deal. His eyes were averted because he had no authority over her, yet subconsciously, he thinks of her as his. Just my way of seeing stuff. Of course this is all coming from the way he behaved in Mangalpur and the past experiences of this production house work.

You know what .. scratch that. I take my theory back. I love how you put it . Yes, you look people in the eye either when they mean nothing to u at all, or when they are THAT confident. And right now Asad's insides are a pool of insecurities. He doesn't know what he feels, and he doesn't know how Zoya feels . Or how she feels about what he feels. Poor guy is just ... Gee , I'm laughing my heads off , imagining Asad as " ☺️" and eyes all downcast 😆 😆 😆

With two people with so much intentional distance between them like Asad and Zoya, there is no way to connect but for such not-so-accidental trippin' sessions to happen 😛 What happened AFTER that is rather interesting though. Asad kept telling himself that she meant nothing to him and funnily enough, negating its purpose himself by saying "She means nothing to me". Well you know what they say.

😆 Let's give the guy a break and not incriminate him on this count. 😆 We're still at a stage in the relationship where Mitwa is accidental by all means. But but but, he most definitely did a mauke pe chauka when he comfortably rested his left arm on her waist as he continued to stare at her. And then, for me, the funniest of all dialogues today was "Mujhe isse door hi rehna chahiye". I was like, okay another Mitwa until this dialogue and then I grinning. It's not that we have not heard that dialogue from AAK before but have we EVER heard him say that dialogue in response to a Mitwa moment charged with sexual tension? 😆 Were he to continue that line of thought, he would've said "mujhe isse door hi rehna chahiye warna mein kaboo kho doonga!! Time for a cold shower."

The point is, Asad is not only aware of his care and feelings for Zoya but he is also very aware of the sexual attraction he feels. I thought it was immensely cute and awesome given that our Asad started off the show being as single-minded and dismissive of the opposite sex as he was. Today was just awesome.

"Zzz .. Mmmiss Farooqui ..."

Whoever had thought that one day Asad Ahmad Khan would falter in his speech ? Surprise, surprise.

He clearly wanted to say Zoya . That was his first instinct, but his smartass-on-overdrive brain checked him in time. Refraining from calling her out by her first name is clearly a conscious effort on Asad's part to keep that wall up. Referring to someone by their first name is a very forward gesture - it means you have let down your wall and are willing to overstep their boundaries as well. It means you want to get close to someone's person. But Asad isn't there yet. It'll be a while before he is ready to call her Zoya. The last time he referred to her by her first name was when they were caught in a life and death situation with their innermost vulnerabilities exposed. But this is Bhopal and here decorum must be maintained at all cost as should be the boundaries between Asad Ahmad Khan and the miscreant lady-guest from New York . Too bad the transition from 'Miss Farooqui' to 'Zoya ' is already complete in Asad's mind. Which means deep down, he has begun to recognize and respect her for the person she is, ZOYA Farooqui and not just any female with an indiscreet Muslim surname.

Beautifully stated!! So true!!!

Zoya on the other hand that been continuing to call him Mr. Khan. This clearly tells us that Asad is far deeper in it than Zoya is. For Zoya, it's still attraction, and maybe even a crush. For Asad, I do think it is love already. He has crossed that line. He has also partially the 'change' in his feelings and immediately gone into denial. Eventually he will get to fully acknowledging his feelings for what they really are (love) and accepting them.

Buying her the replacement iPad and cellfone ... its as if Asad is trying to ... err .. whats the phrase in Hindi ... EHSAAN CHUKANA ? I am pretty sure Zoya's genuine gesture of the haldi paste kept messing with his head as he tried to first outright dismiss , then ignore and eventually, cross-examine it out of frustration trying to decide what was her angle in it ... eventually reaching the conclusion that she meant nothing but heartfelt sincerity and gratitude. Gratitude he could take . But sincerity ? Heartfelt ? That would mean something way beyond mere thank you gesture. It wasn't supposed to be this way between them. There would be no lasting warm-feelings. He'd save her, they'd come back home, she'd say a polite thank you and they'd get over it like nothing happened and move on. But Zoya seems to want to take things forward, haldi paste et all, beyond clinical, civil co-existense. She actually wanted to get along with him. And that scared the shit out of Asad Ahmad Khan. So how does he go about fencing her out ? Ofcourse by doing what he does best - Closing the deal , balancing the books ... buying her a replacement for her lost belongings so that there'd be no room for any form of attachment between them post-Mangalpur . Like the reminder of a missing iPad and the events that preceded it. It'd be a clean sever, a well-closed business deal. She'd make haldi ka lep and in return he'd compensate for her iPad and they'd move past that. Unfortunately for Asad, as the song goes :

I have a slightly deviating take on this, though I agree with most of what you said. I don't think he has it in him to be too mathematical about Zoya at this point. His head is not as clear and calculative as it used to be. 😆

I was going to make a separate thread on it but I'll just post it here:

Let's back up to the terrace scene first. He's lost in his thoughts of Zoya and she comes with her haldi paste. He just wants to be polite with her and make an escape ASAP. So he says 'its ok' to everything. And then when she mentions how she is sorry because 'meri wajah se aapko bohot chot bhi lagi' we see a hint of happiness on his face because of all the reasons that she mentioned, the chot wali reason is important to him and because it is true. Usko chot lagi. The rest of the things she apologized for (for being herself, for being a museebat)-his heart knows it's not true and therefore, an apology over that is not as important. So when she apologizes for the 'chot' he has that soft, content expression on his face as he blinks his eyes slowly (He usually does that when he is mesmerized by her or when he is happy inside). He's still calm and listening to the haldi wali story and doesn't even retract his hand. He would've let her apply the paste but her comment about the Z was a rude wake up call. It reminds him immediately of the trespassing his heart is up to and he immediately puts up a cold front. Zoya gives it right back to him and worse. So here we have a guy, who can't help but care for this girl but this girl just hurts him, compares him to Dilawar-the-kaatil-mamu and walks away (when he was the one with every intention of walking out on her in that scene) with the haldi paste. His 'chot' be damned.

In the same terrace scene,by telling him that she was sorry about coming to mangalpur, she is acknowledging, rightly or wrongly, that yes they should have been apart. And that's quite the pinch to Asad who is all flustered right now because of this change in feelings. He can say all he wants that he didn't want to stay with her, but he knows in his heart that it is not true. However, the moment she agrees with what he said-that she should not have gone with him-it hurts him because he subconsciously interprets it as her wanting distance from him.

Then later that evening, he overhears her convo with jiju. So he knows she needs a phone and an ipad. And then she makes him sick with worry by leaving without a phone in the night. He most definitely got her the phone for her safety and secondarily because it's wouldn't have been too easy on him to get sick with worry each time she sets out per her whim and fancy. 😆. And the ipad was nothing but indulgence for his Hoity Toity Princess coz she is always glued to it and he knows she would miss it. It was all niceness on his part. But here is his dilemma. Andar se care bhi karna hai aur bahar dikhana bhi nahi hai. Thodi si attention bhi chahiye par zyadi attention bhi nahi chahiye kyunki dar lagta hai. Zoya ki terrace wali kadvi baaton ka tit for tat bhi karna hai- coz if I burn, you burn. To top it off, after he gives her the ipad+phone, Zoya says "out of all people" I wouldn't call you- he is slighted. He responds with "hum phasgaye the" with emphasis on phasgaye, returning the favor. He then reiterates the rest of her words from the terrace encounter. He is such a liar. None of what he said during his apology is true- the ipad and the phone were not lost because of him. And Zoya knows it's not true. So she takes it as being mocked at and tears up coz he has deliberately made it seem like he's 'closing the deal' and returning the haldi paste favor by giving her those gadgets. Poor girl.

For his worry and care, he has to give her the phone and ipad. For his pain and restlessness, he has to give them to her in a rude way.

As usual Rafi, beautifully laid out and I guess this is the one thing that's going to stick with us !! Being able to read between the lines of a certain scene no matter how small or big it is !!

Now getting to today's scene, All I could was laugh as I saw Asad fidgeting in his seat until the time that Zoya returns !! Somewhere Asad has already realised that his wall is slowly but surely crumbling down in front of Zoya which is why he makes sure to take that extra effort now to show her that she still does not mean anything to him !! From the point where she enters the door and he tries to cover up his presence there by taking the book at first and then putting it back down when Zoya would have not thought of anything even if she saw Asad just sitting there but there is where Asad's brain which is in overdrive puts him into trouble !!

Somewhere, a man needs to slip !! Your brain cannot possibly put up a guard 24-7, especially when your heart was kind off worried sick for the other person which is why I guess Asad almost called her Zoya today !! Completely agree that calling her by her first name is an indication that they're no longer strangers now and that is not something that Asad wants just yet !! It's basically a matter of the heart versus the mind here and we all know who wins at the end of the day no matter how strong headed Asad can be !!

This is not the first time when Asad has realised later on that he might have been too harsh and tries to compensate in one way or the other. Buying Zoya the Ipad and handphone was definitely a way for Asad to lessen the guilt of hurting her before when she genuinely wanted to compensate for her mistakes !! Sadly, Zoya took it the wrong way but I guess that was rectified a little when Asad did not object when Zoya refused to accept the Ipad. I can so relate to Zoya on this cause Asad does get pretty mean at times and sometimes, feeling sorry later on and trying to make it right without actually saying the words " I'M SORRY " just does not cut it !!

The trip and fall scene was a pleasant surprise but accidental romance is the only way we'll get any AsYa romance for now !! I always find it amusing how Asad, the uptight one is the one who ends up being lost in Zoya more than Zoya herself. Zoya is the one who is half way lost but manages to compose herself faster and here's Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan still staring at her.

You could see the frustration in Asad's face after that cause he knew that he just let her get close to his heart again and metaphorically speaking, he sort of felt his heart beating for her which is why he had to tell himself, more than anybody else that "She means Nothing to Me" !! Still, just having him say that shows that now, Ms. Zoya Farooqi actually does have a lot of meaning in the life of Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan !! 😉
