Phoopi and Tamaatar were at a relative's housewarming function. Zoya came home disappointed at not having made much progress in her attempts at finding her father and went into the kitchen to get some water. After drowning her disappointment in some water, she went to her room and lay down with a big sigh - before she realized it she had fallen asleep. The burial trauma still got her exhausted very quickly.
Zoya was screaming...he thought he was the only one at home and didn't realize she had returned from wherever she went. He knew Ammi and his sister were not at home and that he had to do something about helping Zoya - she's had traumatic nightmares before. He rushed to her room and paused at the door - not sure if he should go in. He turned away but then she cried out "Mr. Khan - woh log hamein maar daalenge!" and he couldn't hold himself back.
He swore to himself and opened the door. Zoya was still sleeping but there were sweat beads on her forehead and her breathing was harsh. She was fighting someone off but was clearly scared. He rushed to her side and tried hushing her but she continued to thrash around on the bed. He threw all propriety through the window and sat on her bed and held her close whispering soothing words in her ears "sshh...koi nahin hai...Hum log ghar aa gaye hain...woh log hamara kuch nahin kar sakte yahan. Main hoon na"
At those words she stopped thrashing around, but turned her head to snuggle closer to his chest and held on to his shirt collar. "Aap please hamare saath rahiye Mr. Khan"
He kept telling her "Main yahin hoon, tumhare paas, kuch nahin hoga tumhain". He didn't realize there was a tear rolling down his left cheek and as he looked down at her to make sure she was fine, he saw that she was sleeping blissfully. The creases on her forehead had straightened out and she seemed a little more peaceful.
He felt a lot more at ease himself to see her calmness and felt he could breathe more easily. He was exhausted too and soon he fell asleep holding Zoya.
This is my first attempt at writing a scene...would love to hear your feedback
