episode 37

he stood there covered in her colour. it surrounded him as well. the dupatta was pleased. the diaphanous one had been telling the story of these lovers ever since it slipped off her and fell in a heap on that first night they met in sheesh mahal. later at the mazar, it blew out wantonly, caressed his face, her first touch on his skin, as though something in her called out to him, and only he heard. at the guest house, as he called out her by her name of the first time, then lifted her up to take her home, the billowing dupatta trailed behind them picking up every nuance of the night and wrapping it in its folds.

today the dupatta had decided to tell the story its own way, giving the writer a break. direction was being taken care of by gust of wind. together they pored over the situation and decided it was time for magic. let the dialogue writers rest, and "if music be the food of love," let it indeed play on. shakespeare would have been happy today, because not often do lovers' meetings get this kind of drama and emotion built into it, tremulous, murmurous, sensuous, without even a single word being exchanged so much is said, and what's unsaid torments even more.

instinctively his hand had reached out to steady the person who'd collided with him as he made his way to the stall to fill his sisters offerings platter with the requisite things. vermillion, flowers, and the all important string. and now this, his dapper attire smeared with vermillion, red everywhere, on his face, hands, on her. as she came up ready to yell at the person for being so careless. she saw him, and went still with shock and surprise. he was oddly struck. for when his suv pulled up at bersarai, the place of the sacred tree where wishes are fulfilled when you pray and tie your string around it, he peered out of the window and i had a distinct impression he had a feeling he might see someone there.

of course, his eyes were behind shades and i couldn't be sure, but why did he scan the place otherwise? and why did that tender music float up, air a little pensive? and oh she was there. the dupatta had set up everything perfectly. the elder sisters would be used shamelessly to bring the twotogether, using that most symbolic of things, dhaga, string. all about ties after all our story.

so while she waited at the stall for the man to come back with dhaga payal had asked for for her platter, payal went to pay respects to the tree. on the other side, when di said she'd go fetch the things for her platter, he said, no, you go to the tree with akash, i'll get the stuff.she said, do get the dhaga also. dupattas flew everywhere, and as he stood in the distance, her pink lehariya flew up playfully. hey mister, i'm here.

however, asr was not known to catch signals from dupattas, used as he was to mini skirts and short dresses. he strode purposefully in her direction to go to the same shop as her since that's where it all seemed to be at. she counted the items on her platter happily and turned to walk to the tree. instead they walked into each other.

she went right round in a circle, scattering vermillion and flowers from her platter everywhere. colour, rich vibrant colour. her colour. now on him.

in many ways, this episode had echoes of the mazar. a powerful place of worship and wish making, here with a string, there a lock and key. a surge of people, joy in the air, many little activities, much colour and crowd. tantalising catch me if you can moments, will he see her? will she spot him? they miss each other, only to meet unexpectedly. a hush in the air.

(sound of crashing waves on shore in my head. arnav the see has dashed against land, and look, it is his happiness.)

as he stands there holding her arm, rabba vey floats in. an exquisite sequence of two people unimaginably stirred by each other. exchanging glances, wondering, feeling all sorts of things without knowing what or why.

she reached to rub her eye, but her hand was held tight by him. he realised, and let go. she took a couple of steps backward. they would have turned away and broken the connection, but again the leheriya took charge. it swooshed up and started to vie aggressively for his attention. down, dupatta. he tugged it away and saw her with her fingers near her eye trying to rub away some irritating vermillion. involuntarily he reached out to help, she spurned him. perhaps to scared. an awkward moment, her hand went to her neck, she adjusted her odhni. this little tic of nervousness added enchantment to the episode in a few places. the poor girl was hungry. not even one jalebi jiji had allowed. she had been dreaming of her rakshas. and now this.

just before coming here, he'd had an overwhelming experience with the calendar. she was in him, difficult to switch off. and now here. since the day she'd slapped her resignation on his palm, in fact, since the night of the guest house, he hadn't been able to say a word to her. he tried to bring it up, even as she stole a glance at him at the stall. but the moment he said: what you said... she turned and hurried away. she was in no state to speak with him. he was furious, no one turned their back on arnav singh raizada and stalked off while he was talking. we know how much asr hates this. khushi had to do it, of course.

at the tree, she went on to tie her string; fully engaged, happy, looking delightfully innocent doing the rituals. he stood away from it all. and struggled for composure, hiding behind a wooden mask like face, a nonchalant air. but that was not to be.

one of the most lovely songs i've heard in a serial, or anywhere, tuhi bata mere maula faded in. at the mazar too it had played. and now here. a spiritual place seemed to be the natural home of a song that seeks the ultimate uplift of the spirit... its immersion in love.

tu hi bata mere maula...
tu hi bata mere rabba...
naa paas aa sake na door ja sake...

agar pyaar inko kheeche, takraar inko roke...
(the last line petty much the theme of the episode)

and his eyes fell on her. mesmerised again. she looked up, saw him, eyes widened. later, she hid behind her lovely pink dupatta and looked at him, chori chori. oh iss pyaar ko kya naam doon?

rabbaa...

a wily dupatta blew up to give akash a hint. and then everyone met everyone. khushi was awkward, then tried to realx. di forgave payal her rudeness the other day, repeating elder sisters are meant to be like that about their younger siblings (funnily both of them have younger siblings who not only take careof them but will do much much more for them). she also said, no need to worry for khushi, she has a lot of himmat. this got to the man. akash was bemused having found his dupattewali. mamiji was displeased with this return of phatti sari and flaunted her one and only son. it was fixed that all the fasting women praying for a good husband and their husband's well being would meet at the same chandni chowk mandir. the last few minutes were dense with talk, the dialogue guys were back. we were being now guided toward the next meeting at the temple.

under all the pleasantries a certain tension grew.our man was angry at di's noticing both had color on them and then her:

"kahin aap wapas dono ne jhagda toh nahin kiya na?"
he brusquely announced it was time to leave. yet before leaving, another long look at khuahi. while she fidgeted with her dupatta.

back at home, her colour still on him. wiping with tissue fails, he chucks it frustration. standing by the place where he goes to find calm, his little pool by the room, he clenches his fist and grinds out:

"aj tak kissine mujhse aisi badtameezi karne ki jurrat nahin ki. tumhari itni himmat kaise hui, khushi kumari gupta."

a beautiful episode. romantic, smooth, elegant, utterly absorbing. resplendent in colours and rich in symbols: red, vermillion, strings, a tree with all the positive life and fertility connotations of a tree, a place of wishes and prayers, reflections on glass, and more. what can you say without saying a single word? ask a dupatta. it will likely say,"everything important."

hawa mein udta jaye
an aside on a dupatta. this beautiful about 2 to 2 and a half metre piece of cloth is associated with a woman's "laaj" her honour and self respect. while often very pretty, it covers her and keeps her safe from lustful gaze. for khushi, her dupatta was always a very important part of attire, essential for her sense of respect. another side of this lovely garment, its charming naughtiness, its eloquence as it sways and falls and billows and floats. in iss pyaar ko the dupatta has an important place. it is not only a symbol of khushi's respect/honour, it is narrator, or so i've often felt. and around it some of the most fascinating sequences have been built. 3rd july 2012, on the cliff's edge when he placed her dupatta across her shoulders, it was as though he took her honour as his responsibility, an elemental instinct of a man vis a vis his woman, to me this was their true marriage [and i've always considered there temple wedding valid]. her breath returned when her fingers felt his heartbeat. he adored her, then put her dupatta where it belonged with care and feeling, he picked her up and walked ahead, temple behind, dupatta picking up all the nuances of the day, wrapping them all in its folds.)

EPISODE 38

Realization and deception is a part of game of life.If one becomes experienced after realizing his/her mistakes but other chooses to go other way around and tries to find easy way to climb up in the game by cheating and deceiving.Deception which is attractive but always ends up in delusion and that ends up in destruction of character completely and losing ALL and everything in the game. That's what is happening in these epis ...

"Kal Tuk mein uski Baaton se Pareshan tha to'

Aaj Uska Chup rehna kyun Mujhse Bardhat Nahi ho raha'"

Arnav said exactly what is she feeling and in return he is feeling.

(AS" jo tum mehosos Karti ho who mein mehsoos karta hoon"

Its being bugging him up as he can't tolerate her "Chup" the same way she can't his but as...

I love this Sufiyana song and I want to explore Arnav and Khushi through these verses..

Khushi Arnav Singh Raizada

"Tu hi Bata mere Maula ,,,tu hi bata mere Rabba.."

Only God can explain this mystery .She is in his mind and he is in hers.He is her "Rakshus"Who is everywhere around her no matter what. The more she wants to keep her away from him the more fate brings her to him and same with him.The fate brought them together in such a strange way that nobody can imagine that there will be something going to happen in between them.

"Eik Baat Uss mein Bhi hai to Eik Baat us mein Bhi hai

"Hai Dhoop sa woh aagar to woh chanidini raat si hai"

If one is beautiful inside out then other just beautifies himself and her by his look, touch, care, and essence. If he is fire like sun she is ice like moon to put off that fire by her look, touch ,care, and essence. He is her protector, her savior, her guardian angel regardless she calls him "Rakshus".She is his healer, his happiness , his savior ,and his angel regardless he calls her"Pagal"or crazy.

"Jab Pyar inko khichay ..Takraar inko roke'"

They both are attracted to each other by Love and feel it to the core of their hearts but their ego which instigates anguish, rage to fight whenever they come close is unbearable. They can't live without seeing each other but don't want to be together.

Arnav,."Mujhe aaj se tumhari shakal bhi nahi dekhani."Khushi,"humain bhi aapki shakal dekhne ka koi shaoq nahin hai.."

They both can't live without speaking or listening each other but in ego he does not need to explain to her .as"Mujhe kisi KKG ko safai dene ki koi zaroorat nahin hai.."

And other side is the same"humne itna khuch kaha, aur unhoon nai'."

Its bothering her that why on earth he did not scold at her while she said everything...

He is feeling for her regardless he is annoyed by her over chatting nature. He can't put this in words'.just a question?

"Yeh kia ho raha hai Mujhe'"

She is remembering again how he held her hand and saved her from falling and it makes her upset again as she did not let him justify.

He is remembering how she removed her hand and turned around as she misunderstands him and that bothers him the most and he rubs his hands in rage. How she was in distress because of Sindoor in her eyes and her essence was flying over his face but he could not remove that distress as he is feeling guilty of his past dues to make it right to start fresh.

BUT this time she remembers how he was trying to remove her sindoor but she did not let him and feels bad for that'

He remembers how she did not let him say from his side'and regardless its making him restless but he is feeling for her as he is annoyed by her over chatting nature but today her not talking to him is not settling with him as He can't put this in words'.just a question?

"Yeh kia ho gya hai Mujhe'"(What's happening to me?)

Other side Khushi,"Na humne us se baat ki aur na uske muun lage..magar hum phir bhi usi keh bare mein soch rahe hai'(I don't want to talk or see him but still thinking about him)Says a lot from her side Indeed Khushi's Thal is heavy with Arnav's thoughts which is pulling her towards him and will lead her towards him'...hmmm''...

Realization has carved in but Pure denial from both sides with 1000 volts power of bulb of "Ego" is ON.

"Mil payen khabi dono kia teri iss mein hai razza"

God did you write their destiny to be together. It must be and it looks like otherwise they never come across like this at every other corner'but surely won't be easy either.Regardless the strength of certain elements within them and around them ,it seems there connection is getting sparks and that means the 2000 volts power bulb of "Love" will be ON. Hmmm'dreaming!'

Youn jo bhare hain in ke kadam inhain rasta tu hi dikha"

This is you God who is making them come closer if that's so then make ways to unite them. There is no need to say much about this as DM is making every possible move to put them together. Not only DM but all the elements and all ppl aroung them are doing their best intentionally and unintentionally to bring them together...Lets see until when this ON and OFF game is gona play in between them'.

As their game of Love and Hate is On.other side Deception is crawling in.It is lurking in the name of Shyam who is surely deceiving and playing hide and seek big time.Honestly if I was watching this show from the beginning and as I know myself very well I surely connected the dots and found him culprit of all a long time ago.😡

Shyam got twisted twice in his own web as Buaji asked him about Saree and other when Khushi mentioned Anjali's name when he tells her about "Baisan" to remove those marks. Why and what on earth you are upset about "Chandini Chowk Mandir"Arggg ...😡' '.Thats it'...What a jerkasaurus!... 😡Today I did not like him lusting over Khushi and in return smile of Khushi...'enough already'...😡

Pause here:Saree and for Rani Sahiba yes Khushi you solved the riddle'...😃

Bingo: He admits somehow "Hum Rani Sahiba Ko kia jawab Dengey"Who is this Rani Sahiba????????

Buaji is darnn funny, the way she was sleeping and snoaring'.such a jovial character spreads smile always. You are right about one thing Buaji ,"Arnav is following Khushi with DM permission though.."'Buaji get a little suspicious about Shyam for a nano second..She surely is blind in Shyam's love.

Other side Mamiji is hilarious as everything ends up in her "Make upiya kit"'She is another cheater but harmless'as Naniji found her drinking juice during Varath'...hehe'...😆

Confrontation in between Nani and Arnav is still ON, but she is right in some sense as life is not a child's play. Some Marks leave permanent damage "Chote".Khushi's marks are not going away that easy...'awww but Nani does not know that yet'...Arnav did not say anything and I loved his respect towards Nani and her importance in giving Anajli's gift of the ocassion.Anjali is happy with both of them but her happiness becomes double when her huband's gift comes'...Surely her huband loves her a lot 'hmmm''...'.Her faith that he cannot forget today's day is surely something'.I don't know why God always take test from good people'...sometimes way too much...

She looks at Diya which is not flickering because of Arnav's promise. She is happy as he is coming... ,getting dressed with red saree, sandoor,Bindi,Jhumka, bangles, mehndi, and everything and all for whom ,...who is everything for her'...Just magnificent .She holds her Manglasutre ...,symbol of marriage and thinks about him...

Pause here: As Faith of her is at the peak and his Deception is not going down either.Such a contrast which surely can shake anyone...and can demolish the strong structure of Faith of anyone too'...sigh..She is the one who is going to break it regardless of her Faith but at that moment she will not think as his wife but as a mother of her Rajkumari'...Hey DM...That is the power of a Motherhood...👏

Lavanya,"Meh yeh Sab aapne Pyar keh liye hi to kar rahi hoon...'I mean ASR keh liye.."(I am doing all this for my love , oh I mean for ASR)Choose words wisely La because they will follow you if you are in your wrong foot'...

Anajli sure is a sweet sister and trying hard to convince Nani in case of La'...Nani is not backing off from her Motive..Lavanya and daughter in law...'No way..She surely did not grey her hair in the sun'...sweety...

Love the way Buaji gave blessings to both Payal and Khushi as they were looking gorgeous.Pause here:Her blessing though came true until next Teej they both were married.

Episode 37

Payal and Khushi reach the Mandir for their morning prayer as to day is Teej, an auspicious day for married and unmarried women. A certain peacefulness of sort in the air as places of worship often exude, the background, so colorful, and people everywhere..and oh! the smell of food. Food is driving Khushi crazy and like a "bilkul bacchi" (as Arnav would call her much later when she eats and eats in preparation for Kadva Chaut, another fast) She pouts her lips "Jiji, i'm so hungary, can i just have one jalebi?" Payal tells her she can eat all she wants in the evening.

Khushi insists Payal get started, while she waits for her thaal to be completed
Arnav's SUV arrives with his famlily right behind Khushi...

her reflection on his window, symbolizing to me their two bodies and their intertwined soul

Anjali delighted Arnav came, but chotey makes it clear "Main aapke bhagwaan ke liye nahi, aapke liye aaya hoon" and he volunteers to get her puja thaal prepared.

[ is there anything this guy wouln't do for Di? no wonder she goes coco when Arnav give Khushi more attantion..ok lets close that can of worms]
How the makers play with our patience tease us as Khushi/Arnav unknowingly play hide and seek with eachother,

At last hey takes pity, Arnav walk through the crowd, and Khushi with her completed puja thaal begins to walk while making sure everything is on the thaal..

and then dramatic dhamakedaar collision they both secretly hoped for...

lets take a look from Devi Maiya's view point, her plan is working😉

Khushi loses her balance and her filled thaal, the sindoor fill the air between the two while Arnav instinctively grabs her hand.
[Sindoor, auspicious for all married Hindu women and as we learn later from Buaji, if by accident it falls on a woman by a man its "rab ne bana di jodi"(a match made in heaven), too bad Buaji is not here to see this before Shyam manipulates her😕]

Khooshi goes to yell "aap dekh kar N.!!." and stops as does her heart when her eyes falls on him.

"rabba ve"... their eyes doing all the talking, telling eachother how much they missed the other and so much more.

Khushi reaches for her eye as sindoor got on her, but he has a hold on her hand...she looks to him to let go, takes a moment for him to reach the signal but he does let go,

Her dupatta finds its way to Arnav, slightly irritated, but it contects the two, another sign the two are meant-to-be

He has a need to look at her again, hisexpressions reminiscent of how he saw her in that red saari, completely hypnotized, he reache for her face something he has wanted to do since guest house...

**its no longer about what she wears, it probably never was, maybe DM just needed to get his attention with that red saari

She notices the way he looks at her, she looks down and adjusts her dupatta (feeling exposed again?), he looks at her wanting to say something but she turns to pick up her thaal and goes to get it refilled.

Arnav follows, both standing beside each other but the tension between the two can be cut with a knife!

Intensity grows with the scene and Arnav flashes back "bhaad mein gaya aap..." he decides to confront her "uss din tumne jo" his words cut short by her rudly pacing away...leaving him high and dry, and angry.

He walks behind her but makes no more attempts, classic ASR ego in action and she fully aware he is behind her...

She can't get away from him fast enough, when in the last 24hrs she has talked about seeing him again because "man nahi bhara," expressed disappointment over not having to see him, and have even dreamt about him everyday...then why this all this running? IMO she is very afraid, not of ASR but of Arnav, she notices the way he looks at her, the bewilderness in his eyes since the 1st Rabba Ve, and just now, the way he held her hand today, and his unawareness of it. She's confused and scared of her own feelings towards him. It was much easier to face and be angry with ASR.

"kucch nahi" was the answer for both Arnav and Khushi as their sisters asked about the sindoor on their faces. the song "tu hi bata mere maula" in the background sets the the tone for a beautiful scene in which all else fades except for two blooming, confused, frustrated hearts...nothing but the red auspicious thread between them...

Arnav steals the first looks while she closes her eyes in prayer, she opens them to him, he is making no apologies for starting.

She looks away, as does he but she slowly looks back as she can't help herself and he catches her👏

So tender and beautiful these moments are, at the same time they are very real moments, the emotions the both go through just brilliantly real! everyone has that one special person in school where looks like this were exchanged, causing flocks of butterflies in the tummy, one look that would have thoughts running wild and concentration went out the window and one ignored look you think the whole world would come crashing down...aaahhh those were the days. Khushi eventually looks away, leave him high and dry again...he is not happy

"Khushi?" Anjali calls out as Khushi and Payal are leaving, Arnav stands near Anjali but looks away sending a clear messeage

Anjali sees the sindoor on both "kahin tum dono ne phir se jagda to nahi kiya?" both look at each other but not a peep out of them, Arnav walks away, and khushi looks at him like she knows he's in pain, she even wants to apologize.

Payal is introduced to her future husband and in-laws, Khushi learns Akaash is Arnav's cousin. love how the glancing continues while Anjali and Payal converse.

Payal apologizes for how she talked to Anjali after the guesthouse incident, Anjali assures no hard feelings and informs Payal that Khushi is very brave and can take care of her self.
Behind Anjali Arnav gets uncomfortable with this sensitive topic and Khushi looks at him again knowing he deserves full credit for saving her life

They both know that her bravery wasn't enough that day to take care of herself. Again Khushi looks away as he tries to look at her, he thinks enought! "Di, if you're done can we leave?" bechara Arnav, there is only so much he can withstand. He walks away upset, but does steal two last looks as she hails her ride again fully aware of his eyes on her,

Lack of response from her, he gets in the SUV ... i can almost hear him saying the first of many "tum apne aakp samajti kya ho?"
At the RM, he fumes at her behaviour, trying to rid of those sindoor stains, he throws the towel in his rage "aaj tak kisi ne mujhe aise batameezi karne ki jururat nahi ki, tumhari itni himmat kaise hui Khushi Kumaari Gupta"

Back using her full name, a very pivotal turning point: Khushi turned him into mush the last few days, but now her behavior is giving birth to the hatred that emerges after a few more attempts from his side to confront or maybe even reconcile...the plot thickens as they say, though it make one wonder the outcome of the story had Khushi stopped for him and listened what he had to say...

Thank you so much for Thread #3 Siaa. I brought these over from 2 for those who have not read them. Enjoy!

Episode 36

Because, I Said So

RM- We open with Arnav's Vow to Anjali. "Di, I am with you. I promise I will never let any harm come to you in your life and as long as I am with you no evil can touch you." The wind blows, the diya's flame flickers, the brother first, then the sister with their hands united shield it's glowing light from extinguishing. But Di must promise something to Arnav as well, that it is her husband who is the lucky one to have her. Because, Arnav said so!

Mami's room- Akash's family is in discussion about his bride. Mami is all excited and wants him to marry a rich girl. Akash is like why a rich girl? Mami says even Nani wants your bride to be from a rich family. Akash worriedly ponders but nobody asks what I want, he pictures Payal, nobody cares what I want! You will marry a rich girl, because Mami said so!

GH= Kushi in bed sleeping and dreaming about ASR. "MISS GUPTA!" She bolts up and she asks DM why must she dream about this demon everyday? DM: Because, I SAID SO! She looks at the clock and realizes her sister didn't wake her up. She is late for work! She jumps out of bed, runs inside grabs a towel and meanwhile Payal and Buaji are preparing for Teej, they notice Kushi dashing about. Buaji , 'ah, the princess is up!" Payal asks, "Kushi what are you doing?" Kushi responds quickly with, "If I am late, Laad Govenor... '" Payal, "Kushi you quit your job." She is stunned and saddened. Payal asks her if she is okay and Buaji interjects ,"you do not have to see Arnav Singh Raizada again , got it? Now take your towel and bathe today is Teej." Kushi still despondent says to herself as if to convince herself, that's right there is no NEED to see Arnav Singh Razada. Because, SHE said so! (But then why are you not happy?)

At poolside at the RM ASR is on speakerphone with work. Checking things over ... file, check. Calendar file, check. Opens calendar file'sees photos of Lisa'... ok'...Lisa'...ok'.Kushi'.Stops... dead right there and stares. His heart quickens. Rabba Ve'' He is just dumbfounded, taken aback, mouth dry, he swallows, he blinks, he stares'she is beautiful in that red saree. Is he breathing? Di comes. "Kushi modeled?" He takes a breath. "She looks nice. Nani would think it is good that you are looking at girls other than Ms. Kashyup." He says, "it doesn't interest me to lokk at Kushi." Liar, liar pants on fire. Because, YOU said so, we are suppose to believe you? Anjali asks what if Lavanya dressed in a saree Nani would like that and possibly change her opinion. He asks if we are talking about photos and she says no I am going to the wishing tree with Mami and Akash. He tries to interrupt her saying her health but she says firmly, "I am talking and I am going!" Because, I said so!. She leaves. He goes back to his daydreaming of Kushi, gets angry that she is still under his skin and tosses the calendar pictures.

Back at the GH Buaji is slapping Kushi's hands everytime she reaches for something to eat or drink. Nothing? I can't have anything? Nothing, no, because, I said so! You are fasting for a good husband. Shyam comes and Buaji is elated! Elated to let him know Kushi, um both girls are fasting! He says he has work. 'Nehi, you will not go to work today, you are needed here'ah'um ..Kushi needs you, no, I mean the girls need you here. We will go to the mandir and you will come with us right?' His phone rings he tries to answer, Buaji won't let him, he says it is important but she won't let him. She takes his phone and puts it away in her bedroom closet. It was Rani Sahiba. She says she is doing all this because he is like part of the family. Don't be mad'Because, Buaji said so.

RM- Anjali has been trying to contact her husband to no avail. She is thinking whether the decision she is making is the right one for Arnav and Lavanya. She thinks if her husband was here and she could discuss this with him all his decisions are right and when he comes all will be right. All problems will be solved. She has to take matters into her own hands and decides to call Lavanya and asks her to fast for Arnav today. Lavanya agrees hesitantly at first, more because of herself but then says yes she will for ASR. This girl is not so bad she truly loves ASR. Anjali steps into the mandir and smiles at her diya which is still glowing!

GH- Shyam receives a package and Buaji asks what it is. He says that they are just some files for work. He tells Buaji he has to go and she tells him we will discuss it later after lunch. Everyone leaves to go to the kitchen and Shyam lifts a saree from the bag he just received. Who is this for? His phone is still ringing.

Lavanya is at her house in front of the mirror. She is convincing herself that she can do this. Every time she says something it reminds her of food. She says think of fasting like dieting'good for your figure. This will go as smooth as butter'ugggh She must stop thinking about food and start thinking clothes. Yes! That's it, clothes to impress Nani. What color'Tomato red. Ugggh food again! She can do this because, Di said so!

Anjali and Mami are ready to leave the RM where even Laxmi is fasting, Nani's goat. LOL. Mami asks about Anjali's husband and she says he has never failed her, he will be there, he never betrayed her trust. They are ready to go when Arnav comes with Akash and says he is going with her. She is very happy!

GH Buaji is telling Payal the plan for the day and how they will go to temple and before that the wishing tree where they can place all their desires and wishes. Shyam takes this opportunity of preoccupation and goes into Buaji's room to steal his phone back and as he is coming out of her room she catches him. He said she left the door open and he leaves. She is bewildered but she believes him because, Shyam said so!

Outside on the porch of the GH Shyam is on the phone with Rani Sahiba and says," sorry I will be late'let me convince..ah uh um.. finish my work and I will be there."

He is lying! Something is fishy...'.Because, I said so!

Episode 37

The Wish at Ber Sarai

wish /wiSH/

Verb- Feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable; want something that cannot or probably will not happen.

Noun- A desire or hope for something to happen.

Kushi and Payal come to Ber Sarai by rickshaw, it is imperative according to Buaji to fast and go and make a wish for a good husband on Teej . They prepare to fill their platters for pooja and Kushi tells Payal she is really hungry. "Let's get something to eat." Payal, "NO." "Jalebi", Kushi begs. "No, Nothing until dinner", Mother Payal has spoken. Kushi wishes she could eat something'just a morsel. The gentleman fills the platter with the thread and says he will be back in five minutes for he ran out of thread. Kushi tells Payal to go to the tree and she will meet her there. Payal leaves. Meanwhile, the Raizada's have pulled up. ASR rolls down his window, does he sense something or is he wishing to see Kushi?

He gets out of the car and helps his sister she said something to him and he answers her with," I am not here for God but for you, Di." Wishful thinking on her part. She says she has to fill the platter and he says I will do it you go to the tree. She reminds him not to forget the thread.

This is one of my favorite parts of this episode. Kushi and ASR, just a few feet apart, but don't see or feel each other. Each one turns as the other turns. Dupattas/ veils are flying in the wind and bystanders are blocking the view of the two as they are looking to fill their platters. The gentleman comes back hands Kushi her platter and she is checking to make sure all is right for the making of her wish. She walks towards the tree without paying attention and she collides into ASR as he is going to get his platter filled. Platter, vermillion and thread flying around splattering upon each of them, she is off balance but is saved from falling by a strong hand, something very familiar. He has grabbed hold of her delicate wrist keeping her upright. When they look up, their eyes meet. Shocked, but something else is seen, maybe excitement to see each other? I don't know, but Kushi has some vermillion dust close to her eye and she tries to wipe it but realizes she can't move her hand because it is being held by ASR. He realizes he has her wrist and lets go abruptly, she steps back. She wipes her eye over and over to no avail while her dupatta flies into his face. He reaches out to push her dupatta away, although I am sure he is taking in a deep inhale of her scent, he gets a little annoyed but then he reaches out to help her wipe her eye. He stops, hand in midair, she is shocked at his attempt to help, she steps away, retrieves her plate and goes to get it refilled. He follows her. Side by side they await their plates. Uncomfortable, she again steps away from him. There is a penetrable magnetic tension in the air one you can almost feel. Standing there by her, he thinks about the resignation yesterday and he turns to say something to her and she quickly takes her plate and leaves. Leaving the words dangling from his mouth and into the wind they fly for the air to hear alone. He follows her to the tree, she is holding on to her platter and her dupatta (her protective shield) for dear life. I am sure she wishes this never would have happened and he wishes she listened to him.

Both sisters see their respective siblings and ask what happened and both answer nothing let's do pooja. He stands off to the side opposite of where Kushi is. Both families are on opposite sides of the ropes. They all do their pooja rituals. ASR is looking every which way not to look at Kushi but that just can't happen and as she is praying, eyes closed, he steals a glance at her. Mesmerized. When she opens her eyes she is shocked to be looking straight into his eyes. She looks away but again she can not keep from slowly gazing at him through the side of her veil. Just the glances... the pull...OMG! Oh, how I wish these two would get together and soon!

Payal is praying with her dupatta flying in the wind, when Akash sees this veil and it looks familiar. He yearns to see who the bearer of the veil is. Straining to look he sees Payal and Di notices his attention as well. She laughs, he is embarrassed. Di calls Chote. Everyone has placed their threads and made their wishes. Payal says let's go. Di and her family are ready to leave. Di sees Kushi and seems happy to see her. You are here and she notices that Kushi has vermillion all over her as well and asks if Arnav and Kushi have quarreled again. He steps away this time. Kushi introduces Payal to Di. Akash comes and Kushi is shocked Mami tells her he is her only son. Di says to Payal that we spoke on the phone the other day and Payal apologises and says she was worried about kushi and Mami asks her if she forgot her manners. Payal feels bad but Di said I know you were worried about Kushi. We sisters worry about our younger siblings. By the way you don't have to worry about Kushi she is very brave and courageous and she can take care of herself! She asks the Gupta sisters where they will go to temple in the evening. It it is in the same place as she will be and she says we will see you there later. ASR a little perturbed from Di's conversation and says are you ready to go? They leave but as he is getting into his car he looks for Kushi not just once but twice.

Back at RM ASR is in his room he grabs a towel from his servant and tries to wipe clean his stains. She has marked him again. He visualizes the accident between him and Kushi at the wishing place. He clenches his fist saying until today no one has ever been so rude to me. How dare you Kushi Kumari Gupta!

If ASR had one wish, what would that be? I wonder what he would wish for if he tied a thread. Would it be to torture or love our Kushi Kumari Gupta? We will see'.

Episode 38

Always On My Mind

Buaji is sleeping in the chair and even in her sleep she is praising NandKishore! He is always on her mind! She awakens as Shyam is sneaking out the door holding the package. She asks him where he is going and he says nowhere. What's the package? A gift he says, she gets excited, a gift? Hmm, maybe for Kushi? Just then Payal and Kushi walk in. Buaji sees the state that Kushi is in with sindor all over her. Oh, NandKishore! She sends her for pooja and she comes back with it all over her. Kushi says it was that " Rakshas, Arnav Singh Raizada!!! "" Did you meet that demon, did he follow you? "She asks. Kushi answers, "No, he was with his sister Anjali who is so nice and sweet and he is such a demon!" (Who is always on your mind BTW). "Buaji, I also learned that Akash, the man who drove me home, is his brother. "Aye, NandKishore! How many of them will bother us"! Mother Superior Payal, perfect in every way, diffuses the situation by telling Kushi to go get cleaned up. Kushi is complaining that the tray is very heavy. Buaji reminds her of how she is like a delicate flower so it must be heavy for her' a little sarcasm there I think. Go wash'she is always in trouble!!!

Lavanya is at her apartment salivating over a bowl of chips. Right now food is always on her mind. 'No one will know', she thinks and just as she is placing that delicious salty chip into her mouth, the phone rings'Chips a flying she answers with excuses coming out of her mouth as her hello. "I didn't eat anything!! I didn't eat anything!!" Just like a guilty child! Di gives her all the particulars for the evening service and asks her to wear a saree and thanks her for taking part in the fast. Lavanya responds with "to prove to myself, uh, no prove my love for ASR is sincere." I do believe she believes that too. Di always taking care of her Chote who is always foremost on her mind!

Mami hears Anjali's conversation with Lavanya and realizes the intent. She is happy because If Nani approves of Lavanya then she will be first to print the invitations and then she can get her Akash married!!! Akash's marriage and her betterment in society are always on her mind!

Kushi is applying flour paste to help remove the sindor which has marked her. She looks in the mirror these stains are impossible to be removed! The stain is not just on her face but in her mind and heart as well. She may not know it now but this man has marked her'branded her for all time. Like a stunned calf after branding, she just doesn't get it. The little calf gets up right away but doesn't realize it has been marked. Confused, it carries on with its life. Kushi is just like that little calf, she doesn't know how deeply this man has marked her, stained her and branded her, all she wants to know is why does she continue to think about this demon? Why is he always on her mind? She relives the incident at Ber Sarai and so does he. We have a parallel track here and we watch the two who are lost in thoughts of each other. Rabba Ve' ASR thinks he was worried when she spoke but now he is worried more because of her silence. He asks himself what has happened to me? You met Kushi Kumari Gupta and she is always on your mind...that's what happened.

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Sung by Elvis Presley (words & music by Wayne Thompson - Mark James - Johnny Christopher)

Payal enters the room and asks Kushi what she is thinking? Kushi blurts out, "Arnav Singh Raizada! He is always on my mind! I didn't talk to him or argue with him but never the less I can't get this man out of my mind. I don't know why I ruin my day thinking about him all the time and I don't have anything to do with him!" Because he is always on your mind, Kushi Kumari Gupta and in your heart! She goes to get ready.

In the Raizada living room the women of the house are sitting and chatting. ASR walks by and Di says you are still stained? Nani chimes in with that is why we have to be careful with his life. It is difficult to realize when you are in trouble. Stains can not be removed so easily! Mami jokes with Nani that she sounds like a detergent commercial. Just then a servant brings Mami her juice. She admonishes the "fool". She explains to Nani how she is getting older and she must drink some juice now but when she was younger she did not break the fast. Di comes to her rescue by asking Nani, ' juice is allowed, right?' She then continues to tell Nani that Lavanya has fasted not taking a single drop of water or juice today. Chote's happiness, (oh, really?), and the tranquility of the family are always on her mind.

Buaji brings the girls new sarees to wear for Teej. They are all excited and Kushi picks the orange one for her and gives her sister the green one. Buaji calls Kushi a butterfly as she flits about looking at her new saree excitedly. Shyam comes, stops dead at seeing her and tells her about the flour to remove her stain. She tells him Anjali told her the same thing today. She will thank her this evening when she sees her at the mandir at Chandi Chowk. Shyam looks worried for some reason..what is always on his mind?

Mami is talking with Nani and says how Anjali asked Lavanya to fast and of course Nani answers that Lavanya would never do it on her own. Mami says she has fasted, isn't that what matters? Just because she looks like a model doesn't mean she is not a simple girl in her heart. Nani retorts with just because YOU say so, I am suppose to believe you and accept her? Fasting does not make a person holy. Miss Kashyup is not going to be bahu in this house is always on her mind!!

Shyam explains that it will be crowded at that temple so why not go to Savitri Nagir. It is so far away says Buaji. Yes, says Shyam, but it is less crowded and less traffic. Buaji agrees.

Mami says aren't we to wear new things given to us by our in laws, if this is her subtle way of saying things watch out! Nani calls the servant who hands her gift to her she opens the jewels first. She takes Nani's blessings. $ always on Mami's mind! Nani and Chote give Di a gift from them but Nani wants something in return from her husband, he must give them a gift soon... a baby.

Girls are getting ready at the Gupta house and they both look stunning but when Buaji moves and Shyam sees Kushi he drops the gift.

Anjali and Mami getting ready and her gift comes from her husband. She is excited he has never forgotten her. Perhaps he picked this gift out himself? She is carefully getting ready for she hasn't see him in a long time. He is always on her mind!

Shyam sees Kushi, drops the gift bag and the saree falls out. Kushi sees and says to him what a beautiful saree is that for your Queen? Ah, uh, um... Buaji remember I said I have something to do I must go now... Who is going to take the girls? Kushi answers Buaji you have bothered Shyam all day. We will be okay. Stop bothering him he has something important to do'..

Yes, Kushi...he has something important to do....What is always on his mind? Deception perhaps?

Beautiful sibling bond here! I love this scene as well!
It was kind of funny and cute that Arnav is rabba veying with Khushi's picture! 🤣 Both Arnav and Khushi are trying so hard to forget one another...all failed miserably! 😉 Can't get enough of your Drool Corner...🤢 As always, I enjoy reading your reviews and love being here! he stood there covered in her colour. it surrounded him as well. the dupatta was pleased. the diaphanous one had been telling the story of these lovers ever since it slipped off her and fell in a heap on that first night they met in sheesh mahal. later at the mazar, it blew out wantonly, caressed his face, her first touch on his skin, as though something in her called out to him, and only he heard. at the guest house, as he called out her by her name of the first time, then lifted her up to take her home, the billowing dupatta trailed behind them picking up every nuance of the night and wrapping it in its folds.

today the dupatta had decided to tell the story its own way, giving the writer a break. direction was being taken care of by gust of wind. together they pored over the situation and decided it was time for magic. let the dialogue writers rest, and "if music be the food of love," let it indeed play on. shakespeare would have been happy today, because not often do lovers' meetings get this kind of drama and emotion built into it, tremulous, murmurous, sensuous, without even a single word being exchanged so much is said, and what's unsaid torments even more.

instinctively his hand had reached out to steady the person who'd collided with him as he made his way to the stall to fill his sisters offerings platter with the requisite things. vermillion, flowers, and the all important string. and now this, his dapper attire smeared with vermillion, red everywhere, on his face, hands, on her. as she came up ready to yell at the person for being so careless. she saw him, and went still with shock and surprise. he was oddly struck. for when his suv pulled up at bersarai, the place of the sacred tree where wishes are fulfilled when you pray and tie your string around it, he peered out of the window and i had a distinct impression he had a feeling he might see someone there.

of course, his eyes were behind shades and i couldn't be sure, but why did he scan the place otherwise? and why did that tender music float up, air a little pensive? and oh she was there. the dupatta had set up everything perfectly. the elder sisters would be used shamelessly to bring the twotogether, using that most symbolic of things, dhaga, string. all about ties after all our story.

so while she waited at the stall for the man to come back with dhaga payal had asked for for her platter, payal went to pay respects to the tree. on the other side, when di said she'd go fetch the things for her platter, he said, no, you go to the tree with akash, i'll get the stuff.she said, do get the dhaga also. dupattas flew everywhere, and as he stood in the distance, her pink lehariya flew up playfully. hey mister, i'm here.

however, asr was not known to catch signals from dupattas, used as he was to mini skirts and short dresses. he strode purposefully in her direction to go to the same shop as her since that's where it all seemed to be at. she counted the items on her platter happily and turned to walk to the tree. instead they walked into each other.

she went right round in a circle, scattering vermillion and flowers from her platter everywhere. colour, rich vibrant colour. her colour. now on him.

in many ways, this episode had echoes of the mazar. a powerful place of worship and wish making, here with a string, there a lock and key. a surge of people, joy in the air, many little activities, much colour and crowd. tantalising catch me if you can moments, will he see her? will she spot him? they miss each other, only to meet unexpectedly. a hush in the air.

I know I reviewed your post on the last thread but now as I read it again lines marked in pink are sublime. So true and wonderful. Love the song always. I am in bliss right now! Thank you!
