After terrible let down on Friday, I braced myself for today's episode and was I entertained or what! Today's episode left me feeling satisfied and content. I was provided with enough Asad and Zoya and their raw emotions of hate and love and loss and yearning that has left a smile on face but eager for more. That is good work from the PH.
Today's episode was directed extremely well and acting wise, I am so impressed with Karan Singh Grover that I seriously do consider him one of the best actors Indian television has to offer. He is a package deal of good looks, a chiseled and perfect body and the ability to express a multitude of emotions. And that deep masculine voice is just the icing on the cake.
The episode belonged to KSG and the director. What an incredible scene at the end where Asad is forced to walk away from Zoya. A helpless man who can do nothing to protect a vulnerable young girl. The anguish and turmoil that all along he had believed she was at fault when she was simply trying to help someone. A selfless act for which she must now pay a dear price. Here was his uncle whom he respected, casually inviting him accompany him on a stroll while his henchmen commit a merciless and brutal act of burying his young lady alive.
It was such a polished scene and so real; what does a man do in that situation? He reluctantly walks away composing his thoughts, waiting for the moment when he can redeem himself in the eyes of a young girl to whom his last words were of never wanting to see her again. Well, he was going to get that wish but he was not going to make it happen.
The frantic urgency by which Asad (KSG) ran to the area screaming out "Zoya" was a man desperate to make amends, to do what was right, to redeem himself for not listening to her. I did not see love, but guilt, respect and a realization that Zoya was a selfless human being. She was not the interfering young girl but someone who wanted to do right.
The episode provided the cliche Mitwa scene - just enough to make the young viewers blush and get all giddy. Zoya was tragically made to look silly but she was also consistent in her character. Her attempts to boast about her accomplishments and make light of their situation when she just announces how afraid she is reminds us what Dilshaad said about her habit of covering up a serious situation or emotions with a smile on her face.
The show kept me engrossed even as I still wonder how these two managed to hold their bladders for 24 hours. I am assuming that while waiting for the strange man to return they took advantage of using the restroom...A major goof up on part of the creatives.
Another major mess up - where the heck did Yash and Aarti suddenly show up from? Very sloppy and rushed here, but I am hoping this will be cleaned up later. I also think it is vital for Asad to know that Mariyam tried to kill herself and Zoya had no time to do much else.
Overall, I give this episode an A- for heighten emotion, action, good pace, great acting (KSG).
(O, as for the Humaira-Ayaan storyline - just enough to keep it moving...as always, this is done well).
OK, looking forward to tomorrow.
