Part Four - The Kidnapping Special Part Two

Nowhere. Maya was nowhere to be found.

RK returned home late at night after spending the entire day searching for her.

As he walked into his home in a trance, Madhu ran up to him.

"Did you find her?! Where is she? Is she in the car? RK? TELL ME!" Madhu shook RK.

RK remained shocked and frozen, he didn't reply to Madhu. He walked past her silently and up the stairs.

Madhu watched and fell to her knees. She had got her answer.

As RK reached their room, his phone rang. He didn't pick it up. It rang again. He didn't pick it up. It rang a third time, Madhu, who had decided to follow him to their room, grabbed the phone out of his pocket and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Oh! What's this? RK, when did your voice become so beautiful?" the caller chuckled sarcastically.

"Who is this?"

RK went to sit on the edge of their bed as Madhu spoke on the phone.

"Nope, you got it all wrong. You don't ask me the questions darling. I ask you. Now tell me, how's your daughter doing?"

Madhu went silent as she realized she was speaking to the kidnapper.

"PLEASE DON'T HURT HER, PLEASE."

RK shot his head up and noticed Madhu was on the phone. He got up and ran towards her. He grabbed the phone from Madhu's hands.

"Listen, we'll give you anything. Please, just give us back our daughter," RK pleaded the caller.

"I'm afraid it's not so easy. I don't want anything in particular my friend."

"Then why'd you take her?! Tell me! You'd been bothering me for months and months, just tell me what you want and I'll give it to you."

"Your wife."

RK went silent, his mouth opened slightly in shock. His eyes moved towards Madhu who looked at him with a worried expression. Tears flowed out of their eyes.

"What's he saying RK?!" she questioned him.

RK ignored her question and spoke to the caller.

"I c...ca...I..." RK stuttered into the phone.

Madhu grabbed the phone from him as he stared blankly at the ground.

"What do you want?!"

"You."

Madhu stared at RK shocked after she realized what RK had just heard. She swallowed and spoke in a shaky voice.

"When...and where?"

RK shot his head towards Madhu and grabbed the phone.

"NO! She's not coming!"

The caller remained silent as he listened in to the argument between RK and Madhu.

"RK! I'M GOING!"

"No Madhu! I'm not letting you risk your life like that!"

"And our daughter?! I'll do anything to save her."

"I can't lose you! I can't lose either of you!"

"RK, I'm going. You can't stop me. Don't try. Please."

"YOU'RE NOT GOING."

"DO YOU NOT LOVE MAYA?!"

RK went silent. He stared at Madhu in shock and tears as she grabbed the phone from his hands.

"When and where?"

Part Seven - I Can't Do This Anymore

"Police?!" RK handed Madhu their daughter and rushed downstairs.

RK came to a stop on the middle of the stairs as he noticed his mother on the ground in tears.

RK turned to glance at the policemen staring at him.

RK slowly and cautiously walked towards the policemen as he remembered the happenings of the morning.

"Can…I help you?" RK spoke to the policemen as he tried to maintain a steady voice.

"Yes, Mr. Rishabh Kundra, we found two bodies."

RK put a hand over his forehead and wiped away the sweat that was forming.

"We believe it's of Sikander and Preity Bhatia."

The cries from Radha increased as Madhu ran down the stairs to comfort her mother-in-law.

RK stared silently at the policemen, not knowing what to say.

TWO bodies?! RK thought to himself.

"Both are wounded in the head."

Madhu looked up shocked as she heard of her sister-in-law's suicide.

"We are still running an investigation, however we'd like for someone to determine if the bodies are of who we assume."

RK stood frozen, shocked, in place as he stared at the cops silently.

"We understand you're shocked, however we suggest Mrs. Bhatia does not come to recognize the bodies…"

There was silence amongst the room for a minute, and then finally RK spoke.

"I'll come…" RK spoke as he remembered back to Sikky yelling at him for not claiming Dipali's body as family.

"Thank you, follow us."

Madhu watched as RK left with the policemen, a worried look crossed her pain-filled face.

RK, who had just seen his stepbrother and sister-in-law's bodies, walked back through the doors of his mansion in a trance.

Madhu watched from above the stairs as RK's steps came to a stop.

She stared down as RK glanced up towards her with a look full of pain and then slowly back towards the ground.

He stared at the ground for a minute, lost in thought, and then suddenly fell to his knees.

"RK?!" Madhu called his name from above the stairs as she began to run towards him.

As Madhu reached RK, she realized he was in tears. RK held his face in his palms as he cried.

Madhu bent to the ground beside him and placed her arm around his back and caressed him. She used her free hand to move RK's hands from his face; she placed her hand on the side of his face as he looked into her eyes with tears.

"I…Madh…I…" he stuttered as he tried to speak.

"Shh…" Madhu spoke softly, "…breathe RK, then we'll speak. Shh."

RK looked into Madhu's eyes as he began to calm down, then suddenly he wrapped his arms around Madhu and burst into tears on her shoulder.

"I can't do this! I can't do this anymore! I just want to be happy! With you…Maya…I can't…I can't…" RK trailed off as he sobbed.

Madhu was stunned; she'd never seen such an emotional side to RK before. She caressed his back and hair as she hugged him tight. She managed to calm him down slightly.

RK pulled away from Madhu and stared at her. Tears had built up in her eyes, but she gently wiped his tears away. She held his face in her hands.

RK gently placed his hand on top of hers and slid them off his face. He stood up and began to walk in the direction of the stairs.

Madhu stood and stared at him confused as he walked past the stairs.

"Where are you going RK?"

"Ma…"
