Sachin Shroff aka Dhruv of Sindoor Tere Naam Ka was duped by a con couple when he was heading to a party with his group of friends a few days ago. Sachin shudders as he recalls the incident, "There was a get-together at my friend's place in Bandra. About 16 to 17 of us were travelling in three cars. We noticed a young girl walking with her boyfriend on the road ahead of us. Suddenly, to our amazement she started screaming loudly. We stopped our car and my friend who was driving, got off. At once the girl started accusing us of running over her feet. Before we knew it we were surrounded by people! The girl would not stop yelling so my friend offered to take her to the hospital. Instead, a man from the crowd suggested that he settle the matter by giving her some money. But my friend was adamant about taking her to the hospital. By then I was annoyed by the unpleasant incident and offered to give them some money against my friends' wishes. Immediately, the girl stopped crying and stood upright. And to our surprise, the crowd remained silent."
It was only later that it dawned on them that they had been had. "We all had a feeling that they were impostors. But it was really difficult to prove them wrong in front of so many people. I guess, we had to compromise a little to save our evening from getting spoilt," says Sachin.
Next time, however, Sachin vows to be more vigilant. "This time it was a question of a few hundred rupees, so we decided not to stretch it any further, and didn't lodge a police complaint. Next time, if I meet such people, I will surely teach them a lesson," he says.
