Costumes of a character are meant to portray not only his traits and behaviour but also his varied moods and changes in attitude. This particular aspect was beautifully shown in RBO and I agree to all the analysis done by you, especially regarding the growth and maturity in Shantanu and Khanak and the same relayed in their costumes.
An interesting thing that I loved was that before his marriage to Khanak, Shantanu wore shirts which were formal and dull, while after their marriage and more after he discovers that he is in love with her, we are overwhlemed with colours in his wardrobe...his shirts from pink to purple, orange to yellow were talked about so extensively. Khanak's suits style and colours along with the make up changes subtly towards more classier attires as she slowly adapts to urbanisation.
Another thing that I loved was use of Golden cream colour on Khanak whenever there was a crucial stage in the story or a major turn ! Call it co-incidence or deliberate, but that gave a distinctive appeal to that scene...like the day Shantanu's music launch was announced, Satrangi rey, the last scene of the show...even the wedding saree of Khanak with Shantanu was golden cream with red odhani !
I was wondering this morning...while watching a few Shanak scenes...that how they had also used food to express...
From Mithai...to Kheer...from Rasmalai...to Gujarati food that Khanak cooks ...they have used food too at certain crucial stages...I think we'll need a separate analysis and post for that 😊
