Rap video of girl gang abusing Honey Singh goes viral online

Chandigarh: A 2011 video featuring a group of girls using choicest expletives and criticizing Honey Singh for misogyny in Punjabi rapping style has gone viral.
The video, uploaded in December 2011, has suddenly become a rage after the rapper's show was cancelled on New Year's Eve following outrage over his songs promoting vulgarity and misogyny.
On Thursday, the video titled 'Insult of Honey Singh by Girls' was trending with over 8.9 lakh hits.
"It is payback time. What drove us to upload the video were his women-hating sentiments," said one of the girls, who now works with a Bangalore IT company.
Three girls sung the song while another played drums.
The girls have used same rhythm and beats used in Honey Singh's video and said they are unapologetic for the offensive content in the video. "Let's not get into righteousness. I agree that it is slanderous, but if his po*nographic lyrics are acceptable, then this must be too," she told TOI from Bangalore.
One Shweta Bhasin lauded the video on a video sharing site saying "a combative action like this is the best way to put a stop to Singh's subversive lyrics who justify themselves by saying that they only sang them for entertainment and not wrote them to hurt someone''.
Earlier, Honey Singh's lawyer had issued a media statement saying his client was not liable for the lyrics that were part of the criminal complaint because he only sang those songs and did not compose them.
