Are Indians raised in the West more 'liberal?' - Page 2

It is a matter of embracing the concept, you will see it in practice in the West and in theory in india. A lot of Indians are exceptionally great at ratofying the theory😉

I disagree. I live outside India yet I feel that I'm more traditional than people living in India.

As for being traditional, it is simply being close to your country's traditions and festivities. It does not have anything to do with your perspective of things.

Well, I personally think it breaks even in many ways. My cousins in Europe are very religion oriented, but where as my parents in terms of religion are very liberal. But, in terms of dating and going out, (not my parents) but parents in India can get be a little close minded. The west has defined what "liberal" means, so anyone raised there is certainly more liberal. But India, at least in the metro cities have become very open minded. Indians born there tend to to think that India will always be conservative and that's why are in for a surprise when they see how open we have become. But that does not make them less liberal, it just means its the same amount of everywhere, just with which you look at it changes.

What is liberal? Well, I remember a lady telling me "Your mom is so liberal!" when she found out that my mother allowed me to go on dates and talk to the opposite sex. When I visited Mumbai, my cousin told me "So what? Everybody here dates. Some parents even know that their kids are having sex."

Doesn't matter where you are raised, it all depends on your family environment.
