No Need To Be Afraid Of Foreign Dramas: Bushra Ansari

Pakistan's prominent television actress Bushra Ansari has said that there is no need to be afraid of foreign dramas being telecast on local television.

"If we have stronger relationship with our own culture then there is no need to be afraid of foreign dramas," an Urdu newspaper quoted her as saying in an interview.

She said that the quantity of dramas has increase in the country due to the increase in private televisions during last few years. "But I think popularity of few dramas' being telecast on private televisions show that the quality of our dramas has not decreased."

Several actors and producers in Pakistan have protested against the airing of Turkish dramas, getting popularity in the country, on local television channels.

While a Gallup survey says Pakistani viewers have expressed varied feelings about airing of Turkish dramas on local TV channels as 26 percent claim that they highly like Turkish dramas and 67 percent have mixed feelings about them whereas 6 percent dislike these dramas.

"We have to make quality dramas to compete with foreign dramas," she added
