I dunno much about india but both pakistan/india shares common things like this one..
so i'll say that yes women r mistreated more these days coz theree r more of em' now! i mean just look at the population explosion!
secondly there is an air of insecuresy these days so.....
Yes I agree there are laws to protect women allright but the implementation is so poor. then there is a world of difference bween metros, villages and towns. Four kms beyond Bangalore would leave one surprised at the lack of awareness, women and children continue to be sold and no one cares. As a college student I would like security in so much as I should be able to walk at night without fearing that someone is following me. This is missing in most metros. Then we should have equal opportunities.

We have n number of laws, but poor implementation. Lack of awareness may be the reason. Boys and men need to change their attitude , entertainment for some of them is a c grade movie.
