Don't have the details immediately - but there have been instances when the judges have given exactly that verdict - asking the accused if he would like to marry the victim or go to jail - in at least two cases the victims appealed against the said judgment.

yeah they are all fake... as Chitrashi stated the law never allow the rape victims' pics to be circulated in the media

Shahzur - please don't post these pics - these are all fake. the real pics were never released.

To answer another member as to why media coined names like Damini, Nirbhaya etc - Indian laws mandate that NO INFORMATION ABOUT A RAPE VICTIM CAN BE MADE PUBLIC- HER NAME, ADDRESS, PICTURE, PARENTAL NAME, VILLAGE - NOTHING. This is done to protect the victim from social stigma/ostracism and to ensure her privacy.

Now that she is dead - we can surely condole her death without needing a face or a name - after all none of us knew her personally.

She is every woman and no woman.
