Hello Everybody!

Here's the next DOTW........ Did Harry really get to where he is right now, because of HIS work?

In the first year, he crossed to the Sorcerer's stone because of Hermione's help at the potions, Ron's at the chess... in the second year, he just ummm, ran! And little bit of battling... He didn't even figure out the place of the basilisk... it was Hermione who figured everything!
In the third year, again it was Hermione, who had the time turner, and helped Sirius escape... and previously, Harry did nothing against Pettigrew, it was Sirius and Lupin...
In the fourth year, Harry got through all the tasks with the help of Moody... and if it weren't for that lucky stroke of magic with Lord Voldemort's wand, there wouldn't be any Harry to debate on!
In the 5th book, again, it was the skill of Hermione and Ron and all the others as well! And if it weren't for the order of the phoenix, trust me they were in a biiiig soup!
In the 6th book, he did absolutely nothing anyways.........

But on the other hand, It was his flying skills in the first year that got him through to the stone!
In the second year, if it weren't for his battling, and his faith and loyalty in Dumbledore, he couldn't have survived! Let alone save Ginny.....
In the 3rd year, he was the one who performed the Patronus and saved his and Sirius' life, while in the 4th, if it weren't for his skills in the 3rd task, he couldn't have possibly won!
In the 5th year, he proved himself with the DA, his will power against Umbridge, and also his duelling at the Ministry of Magic!
In the 6th year, he helped Professor Dumbledore in retrieving the horcruxes!

What do you think? Could Harry have done it without his friends? Was it JUST him? Or did his friends have an equal share in it? Then why does Harry get all the fame and not Ron and Hermione?

Thought about it that way?😉 Well now get thinking........

-Sam 😉

Hey cool DOTW!!! Well I think you got the idea from that recent article about Harry Potter being a fraud coz the points u used almost match 😉

Well, I would like to explain it with a lil bit of metaphor...

See, at the end of the 1st book PSS/SS, Dumbledore hands out last minute points to the Gryffindors enabling them to win the House Cup for the first time in 7 yrs(or 6???)

Well, he gives 50 points each to ron and hermione and he gives 60 points to Harry...

Now why did he give those 10 extra points to Harry??? And why only just 10 more??? Surely, he's Harry Potter, Dumbeldore could have given him abut 100 points for his bravery and *his fame* (acc. to ur points)

And Ron n Hermione never get t hog the limelight, maybe Dumbledore could have given them less than 50...or half of what he gave to Harry...

But why didn't he???

Coz, during the quest for the philosopher's stone.each of the Trio had almost equal share in saving the stone from Voldemort....
Without Ron, they couldn't ever have gone pass the giant chessboard...without erione, they would have been stuck in tht fire-chamber forever....

And if it had not been Harry, Voldemort would have come back to power long back in the first book itself...
If Harry had not had the nerve and the guts to stand against the dark lord with his crippled servant Quirrel, well then...it would have spelled disaster for the world
I think we're being unfair to Harry when we say that he was only lucky against voldemort...or his friends helped him all the way and he had no share in the adventure..

Nor can we say that Harry could have managed it alone..his friends had an *almsot* equal share in it..that is to say...Ron and Hermione did their bit to help Harry in reachng towards his goal...
But in the end...whether by luck or by some quirk of fate..Harry was the one who took the stone from the Mirror of Erised and saved it from Voldemort..

And using this metaphor for the other books and also for the ultimate showdown against Voldemort....I can say that Harry will have to rely upon his best friends at every stage of his fight against Voldemort(do I hv to type voldemort every time or will "voldey do?? 😉 )
They will take him till the last battle..
But at the end..in the ultimate showndown ..Harry alone can hope to destroy Voldey dearest!

great DOTW sam...

i agree with ashi rocks...

harry does need help from his friends to get to voldemort but at the end
of the day, he needs to fight voldemort alone...

we also need to remember that harry doesnt even have half the
experience voldemort does... he was only eleven when he had to save the
sorcerer's stone... no wizard at eleven could have possibly done it all
alone especially if he was facing one of the most powerful wizards of all
time... he was bound to need help

harry needing help also shows us that harry is just an average boy and
not superman or batman who can do anything and everything all alone...
the fact that harry can not do it all alone shows us a more real side of
harry... he has his weaknesses which his friends take care of when the
situation calls for it...

as for ron and hermione equally getting the limelight, they wouldnt be
doing all the great things they were doing if they werent friends with
harry... i mean, do you honestly think that ron and hermoine would have
gone to save the sorcerer's stone if harry wasnt their friend? so it all
comes down to being harry's friend... its kinda like an added bonus i
guess that comes with befriending harry potter... u tend to share and help
in his dangerous journey...

that's all for now... this is my first time actually participating in a DOTW
so i hope what i said up there makes sense... hehe 😉

heyy awesome dotw 😳 its smthing ive always wondered myself 😆
well frankly speakin harry hardly did mch...his friends, dumbledore and the order build a sort of wall around harry...they take care of the abc while harry comfortably skips ahead to the xyz..[sry if tht dint make sense]
bt wht i mean to say is,harry is destined to fight voldemort one on one..bt if he has to face all the obstacles in reaching thr on his own, then there wont b anything left of him to fight voldy..
so his frnds n evry1 else play a huuuuge role in "The Fight"...and i guess dey dont get enough limelight..bcos after all harry is the one with d lightning on his forehead..bt then hermy n ronny wudnt b frnds if they expected ne limelight in the first place..theyre jst plain the best best frnds harry cud get..so evn if they dont get mch limelight its ok 😳

okok im rambling and i kno it😆
2moro when im not so sleepy and i m able to think clearer ill cum n edit this post to a better answer 😳😃😛

dear sam,

first n foremost congo on being the MOTW. secondly I agree with ashi completely... dumbledore merely gave him ten more points because he had the courage to finish off the task that was taken up by him. His courage did not falter nor did it fail him in his time of mortal peril, as we very well saw in the graveyard at the end of GoF while duelling with the dark lord himself.

I also agree that he has been helped by his friends M/S. Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger time and again. but then again, we must not forget that he has never ever denied that he had help with his difficulties, be it overcomming a three-headed dog or 😉 stunning a friend out of harms' way, or completing his homeowrk. He's always had his friends to help him out.

so to say that Harry unjustly claimed credit for it all would be wrong.

Gr8 topic sam and my views on this..

Harry could never have done anything alone. He is incoplete without his friends. He has the drive in him and the courage. Other than that, mere luck. Hermione is the brains that help him through and Ron is the loyal friend who comes through for him at all times. Dumbledore is a combination of both and provide him the drive to do the things he did.

1. In the first book he showed enormous courage but that was the end. Without Ron and Hermione, he might be a reckless adolecent heading towards danger.

2. In book two, he just needed the tip off from Hermione and then he was off. There his unknown knowledge of Parseltongue helped him. Yet he had the courage and here, his gryffindor loyalty towards dumbledore is shown and this book shows that loyalty, one of harry's real strong traits, will always be rewarded.

3. In this book he went in search of the trouble. But here the credit must go to him. Afetr all he is only 13 and he had the help a 13 year old needed to have. But the main part of the book involved hermione's time turner and there comes his friend to bail him out again.

4. This book has nothing to show for harry as a person. Only courage. HEre he was helped by a long long long list of people. Hermione, Ron, Dobby, Sirius, Dumbledore, Crouch aka Mad-Eye Moody... just to mention a few. And this book really didnt have much of a story till the end so nuthing really to coment.

5. Book 5 was as bogus. And the stunt at the ministry towards the end was again reckless and pig-headed. I swear here the entire order came through for him. 'The world is out to protect this boy and he goes to fight a battle with the one they wanna protect hi from? This book makes you want to go "HEY BHAGGU"

6. What was that all about? Nuthing was achieved in this book either. Only Voldy's story was unravelled. Harry didnt have a really important part in it!

Great DOTW topic 😃 👏 👏

Here are my thoughts...

Could Harry have done any of this by himself ? Of course, the answer has to be no.

Harry asks his friends for help..... they are with him wherever he is..... Without Hermione's intelligent brain and quick thinking, and Ron's spontaneous thinking and clever use of things, Harry wouldn't be able to have passed Voldemort so many times already...

I'm sure ki ap sub logh jaanthe hai ki without Hermione and Ron (and others as well), Harry may not have even been standing here today (matlab in the books).... He needs them not only for physical needs, but without Hermione and Ron, he doesn't have any mental support.... and he needs that nah ? Hermione and Ron, even with all their jaghda, support Harry in anyway.

It's because of Hermione's logic and Ron's cleverness of the chess board in Book 1, PLUS Harry's nerve and daring to face Voldemort.
It's because of Ron's faith and thinking, and Hermione's research, PLUS Harry's bold and daring way of getting the book from Tom Riddle in Book 2.
Because of Hermione and Ron's support and them being with Harry all the way, and the Time Turner, PLUS Harry wanting to sort everything out to meet Sirius and find out that he's not a traitor in Book 3.
Hermione's logical thinking and Ron's cleverness in Book 4 that Harry is able to go through each task in the Triwizard Tournament.
In Book 5, you can see even more clearly here, because of Hermione and Ron's DA idea and Harry's leadership that they are able to overthrow Umbridge and find in the Department of Mysteries.
In Book 6, even with the slight jaghdas here, because of Hermione's and Ron's research and everything, especially the mental and emotional support, that Harry gets to learn more about Voldemort here and find out more about his father's, Snape's, mum's, and of course, Voldemort's past and their lives.

Cholly i wrote cho much.... lekhin this is what i think... kind of hard to put it in words 😛
