My dear,

There is no point in crying over what is gone for good. I can fully understand your frustration; I feel the same about Arjun. The CVs have done a thorough demolition job on both these youngsters, and what is left of them now is truly dismal.

Purvi, as she is today, is a very far cry from this one. Right now, she is specialising in ditching good men - and both of the unfortunates unlucky enough to have fallen in love with her have been at the receiving end of this - and running after those like Ovi who hate her guts. Just wait and see what happens when she lands up at the D chawl, and Ovi catches sight of her!

And what would you say about a sanskaari, (presumably) pativrata patni, who, when her husband refused to accede to her demands, ups and leaves him, saying that without 'understanding and bonding' (shorthand for dancing to her tune) their grihasti is pointless and she will now consider her aai's home as her own?

She lets it be known that her baby is his (and I do hope so, though the jury seems to be still out on that), and yet she has no hesitation in cutting him off, abruptly, from her and the baby - she does not even take his calls. It was quite unbelievable!

She deserves every bit of what is almost surely awaiting her in Mumbai. As soon as Ovi, now cosily installed in the D chawl, catches sight of her bete noire, obviously intending the stay there with her, the decibel levels will shake the roof. The neighbours will come to investigate, and the ditching artist will presumably be despatched to the K chawl, where Manjusha will react appropriately to being saddled with this non-earning bad penny.

All in all, much fun and games await, and the only fly in the ointment is likely to be Onir arriving at the D chawl, full of contrition for having presumed to stand up (even if only briefly) to his Mishti, and eager to reclaim her by now agreeing to treat her pyaari behena. Grrr...🤢

I used to rage at Arjun after that hilltop capitulation, for not having told Purvi exactly where she got off. Now, Onir bids fair to give him a run for his money in the marshmallow (or pajama) stakes!

Dear Namita,

Thanks a lot, and it is so good to hear from you. It reminded me of the good old days!

I am nowadays permanently crabby about the goings on in PR, but yesterday's 'understanding and bonding' thing took the cake. At this rate, hardly any marriages would survive! How CAN they show Purvi (with all those A grade sanskaars inculcated in her by Archana) treating the institution of marriage so casually, not to speak of her total lack of consideration for such a incredibly loving and caring husband? What sort of seekh is she giving young brides?

What if the roles had been reversed, and Onir (or Arjun earlier) had claimed the same lack of 'understanding and bonding' and ditched her? The protests in this forum would then have raised the roof. But Purvi does it, and there is nary a squeak of disapproval!

Well, never mind. Here is wishing you and the rest of the family a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year 2013, and also that we are both liberated from PR in the coming months!

Shyamala
