The HD Forum - Why so?

I have been reading the two threads today which have extremely high TRPs 😊

I'm quite glad that I did not create a post on today's episode. Actually, I was still smarting from being called a basher in my last post. Had I created a post today, God alone knows how haywire it could have gone.

All I want to know is...is there a place for people like me in this forum? I do not belong to any group. I am not a Rati/Indira/Zara fan. Nor am I a Rati/Indira/Zara basher. Same for Sumit/Rishi. Neither a fan nor a basher.

And I refuse to be pushed into a group either. Not directly; not by inference.

I come here to share my views on what happened in an epi. That could mean that Indira/Zara/Lahorewali/Indu/Rishi is being focused on and something that transpired between the characters is being discussed or commented on. Most of the time, I am sarcastic about the way the show has been written, but on some occasions, when I want to discuss the actions of a particular character, the 'discussion' is derailed because it takes the shape of an argument.

Why so?

Where are people like me (and I can think of a couple of names straightaway) supposed to air their views, engage in healthy discussion, perhaps engage in a healthy debate, and come away with newer insights on some aspect of the show?

I read the post that Tabu had created on why not HDians. But I am looking more specifically for why not healthy discussion? Why is it so difficult?

Kanan- I echo your thoughts.

I'm not sure if you have been with this forum since the begining. I used to check it out on and off but didn't start posting till much later. I think what happened in the initial days has set the dynamics of this forum. What I saw was constant criticism and humiliation of SV and Rishi (which still continue till date)- and this comes from someone who initially started watching the show just for RP. I have no problem with people criticizing Rishi or Indira but when that criticism stems from personal agendas and biases that people have, I cannot accept that criticism and I cannot engage in a fruitful discussion. For this forum to have a healthy debate, people have to move away from idol worship and I don't believe that will happen anytime soon.

The fact that the show itself is so biased towards a particular theme and character does not help either.

" And I refuse to be pushed into a group either. Not directly; not by inference"

@ bold: it is really difficult to do that on this forum so kudos to you for maintaining this. I hope you continue to post with the same sense of individuality (don't take the basher title too serioulsy- being called a basher on this forum is a badge of honor- it means you've made it big! :-))

Nope...have not been with the forum from the beginning. I have only been watching the show from the beginning. The forum happened by some sort of accident because I was posted in the US for a few months and was looking for ways in which to catch up with the epis. Chanced upon the discussion forum during those days.

Badge of honor! Made it big! 😃 Cool. Will keep this in mind. Makes me feel better already! Thanks, Walden 😊

Hey Kanan. I welcome you with open arms!!!! I am very happy you made this post !! I feel exactly. The way you and Walden feels.
Unfortunately . You were not aware of the politics of of this forum . I have no been victim several times of people's personal agenda !!
I love Rati and Sumit both equally . By nature I am supporter of underdog and I lean more towards Sumit because I just cannot stand the way they bash him and do not have any Marcy !! I think that he is very good actor" I just love the HD casts
We see the show for the story line. Some how we are connected to it.story line is the sole of the show and not any actor . They just work hard to convey the story. Yes we do have favorite actors and we do need to support them but not in fanatic way !!
I refused to identify my self as Ratian or sumitian . I an HD fan ! I love Sumit and Rati together and I am INSHI/ Zashi fan, I cannot get enough of them . I hate grouping and and bashing of these hard working actors . Actors say what writer write and act the way directors direct, specially new comer have no say in it. Sumit opened his mouth once and out of show for month' . They made him disappear !!! actors have feeling too their skull thickness is same as ours!! I really want people to treat they just like we want to be treated at work or socially. Just remember daily soap writers, actors have no life . They work day and night to complete episode for us to see.
PLESE Do not worry about expressing yourself. You have every right to write what you think and other have every right for rebuttals . You cannot please every one ,so be honest with your own feeling !
Sorry for this Preaching but I practice this too!! Welcome back!!!

Glad you feel better. If its any consolation, the first time I posted on this forum, I was accused of being a MID 🤣 What a warm welcome, right?
But if you haven't been on the forum from the begining, its hard to understand the current dynamics. What follows is just my opinion of the siutation, so many may disagree but...I think many SV/Rishi/Inshi fans have been cornered into becoming very defensive because of the constant criticism that is thrown at Rishi. I mean I don't know how I can have a meaningful discussion about Inshi with people who at the core don't even like this pairing. If I don't like something about Inshi, I may say that I wish the writers had taken a different approach. But for people who are inherently opposed to this pairing, it is always about asking for a new male lead, or rooting for Rishta or asking for a "new begining" for Indira. It becomes difficult to remain neutral in this hostile environment. Just my 2 cents on the situation- by no means a factual representation!
Sorry about my ramblings but your post gave me an opportunity to rant!

Hey Heema, very very well said! 😊

I am in the same position as you. I am most connected to the story (nowadays, sadly, its the lack of it) and the characters take the story forward.

As for the actors, I lean more towards Sumit because I like his subtlety. In a role that offers limited scope, he is doing wonderfully. In a show that is generally OTT, his subtlety is very refreshing. He has managed to add nuances, layers, and shades to Rishi very beautifully. His initial mysteriousness was very well-played. Also, his character, many times, is not adequately supported by the writers, and still, he manages to give it some dignity and 'character'.

But because I have said this, if I am going to be boxed into a category and I become a Sumit groupie, then that's not okay. Because I love the way Rati uses her voice. I like the way she has distinguished all three of the characters she has portrayed. She has nailed the expressions very well most of the time. Many times, though, I have disagreed with Indira the character. Now if disagreeing with Indira/Rishi means that I am 'bashing' Rati/Sumit, then I must say that a discussion is indeed futile.

@bold: Excellent! All I can say is, I am open to any opinion and that is the truth. A couple of times, some people might have felt that I am not open to conflicting opinions. That's not the case. All opinions are welcome and will certainly be respected. But to instantly and unconditionally accept another stance will not happen unless a better point of view is shown.

Thanks Heema...for more than just this post 😊

A big thank you for this huge compliment 😊

I sincerely wish and hope that neutrality does get a chance in the forum and people, instead of remaining silent observers, do actively contribute. Not because they feel the need to defend their fav character but because they want to voice their opinion.

@bold-1: How sad is that! Well, hats off to you for not letting it get to you unnecessarily.

@bold-2: Yes, its tough to operate if people are unreasonable to start with. I would express my dislike at something that the character has done, but to bring the actor down is improper. That's also the point Heema made. They are merely enacting the story. If this line is blurred, then a neutral stance is tough. That's when the pointlessness of being on a discussion forum sinks in. 😆

Once Hema had said something similar about why she had stopped posting. I had not fully understood what she meant. I'm getting a more complete sense of that now. The responses in this thread and a couple of PM exchanges with Heema, Ranjiniji, and Pari helped put things in perspective. 😊

Okay, now I have rambled...getting on with the day now. See you guys later 😊

To have a normal forum...there is need of a will in the heart to work for that . But see even in this thread people are busy on sarcastic comments or targeting groups . When there is no will , things can never be normal . And what's the point of this discussion if it never goes in normal directions . All i saw in such posts is biasness and calling urself neutral after that . 😊
