I'd have liked Lataji to be my daughter'

September 28 in Mumbai.

"As a kid, I used to wake up to her songs on the radio," says Rekha.The actress also goes a step further and says that she'd have liked Lataji to be born from her womb. She says, "I had no blessings to give her. I think she's so cute. That's why I'd have liked Lataji to be my daughter." It was at this point, that Lataji referred to Rekha as

'Mahalakshmi'. Rekha adds, "I almost died at that moment. Coming from a woman I idolise, it was a great compliment."

When told about Rekha's happiness at her words, Lata Mangeshkar said, "I know Rekha's genuinely fond of me. One day, I remember that Rekha had paid me a surprise visit, and we had chatted like sisters all evening."
