This is when she had lost all her interest in their closeness. Initially it was the pain of losing her child & then seeing no warmth in him only drifted her away. She should have left him then.. but some how she stuck on giving their relation a chance. But nothing seem to change over years.
Present
The atmosphere in the car was tensed. Both could clearly feel the pain of past between them. The only decision of his that he felt was wrong. He regretted every day since. Wish he could have thought otherwise. He closed his eyes & cursed himself. First time was still ok. ..it was just 40-45 days since they got married. He was way too shocked to start a family then. He was not mentally prepared.
Second time he was still not ready for it but the soul reason was for Geet. He thought she was too young to get pregnant then. He wanted to give her some time to settle in this new life of hers. But the pain that he saw in her face ever since was impossible to bear. It only made him regret more. Only he knows how many nights he couldn't sleep peacefully seeing her tearful face. The look in her face was like she would never forgive him thats only if he could forgive himself for that. But then he did it for her. It was for her own good. Yet the pain lingered ..
it really took a long time to see Geet to be normal after that... may be a year or more be he thought.. or the fact was she never got out of it & he got used to seeing her like that ..not realizing how hurt she was within all the while.
Maan was so sure that pammi would have forced Geet to give divorce. He thought he knows his wife was really innocent & nave in this regard. Off course she is... thats why she never said anything to those aunties who taunted Geet in the Anni's wedding party of being barren. He looked at her painfully.. those words haunted him for so many days but strangely she was calm. Why she didn't react or cry or break down then.. he was so frustrated, he almost went to shout at them.. but then they were ma's frds & elderly ladies. Thank god Daadi was spoke up for Geet. Actually Daadi even send Geet away from all this. And Geet didn't attend any of the ceremony after that. She very elegantly made her presence felt every now & then & went inside.
This silence was hurting him since last afternoon. He looked at her lovingly.. kitni bholi hain, ek bar mujhe kaha hota. But well he knows it now, he won't let anything happen to their relation. Worst thing they could adopt a kid or get a surrogate mother. She is his Geet, his wife, he won't let anything bother her.
Maan tried to break the silence ' meri Dr.Ritu se baat hogayen hain. Don't worry sab teehk hogayega.
He said placing a hand on hers. She seemed more restless than ever. His simple gesture to comfort her actually scared her ironically. He was taken a back. Why was she suddenly so scared of him. Then he shook his head.. she is still a kid!!! probably he was right then he tried hard to console himself.
Geet was little shocked with turn of events. First his declaration infront of pammi, then thinking that pammi would have planned this divorce, now taking her to doctor. It was lot to take in for her. She almost fell for him there.. all she longed for all this years. Him being for her. She doesn't even remember him holding her hand so possessively before. A confused reluctant smile adored her lip. Soon tears wiped it off as the car stopped infront of the clinic. Dark cloud of past choked her heart. It was exactly like this he had planned it all. Fixed the appt with dr for the abortion. She is not even pregnant now then why did he get her here.. so many questions played in her mind.
PAST
She clearly remembered how much she begged him not to abort the baby. They even had a heated up argument in the clinic. That was the last time she ever argued with him. She had walked out creating a scene, that totally came in his favor. The Maan Singh Khurana actually came behind & cupped her face very patiently & very convincingly said tum abhi bahut choti ho.. dehko tumhe yah bhi kayal nahi.. aisen sab karne se family ki badnami hoti hain. U just walked out from there creating a scene. Don't u realize kids r much bigger responsibility. She dipped her head in guilt. Guilt of defaming the family name & he just took as her acceptance for abortion.
PRESENT
She was totally confused now. She didn't know why he wanted to go to Dr. Ritu. Wat did he want to do there.
dr ritu welcomed them with a warm smile. Maan was like always very clear abt wat he wanted to discuss.
Maan first was reluctant. He so much wanted to ask did abortion lead to any complication that she is not able to conceive now. But his guilt didn't let him speak in those words. His guilt would have killed him then. He composed himself.
Maan ' just wanted to check if everything is fine with my wife.
Dr Ritu smiled sweetly ' haan. Kyun kya huwa Mr Khurana?
Maan was in so much so tension.. drs smile was only irritating him
then dr looked at Geet in concern ' Geet tumhari sari yearly check up ki reports tho normal hain. Kya huwa tumhe?
Maan was taken a little back. First dr addressing his wife with first name. Then wondered Geet actually was responsible enough to come herself for yearly check up. He looked at her in total different light now. She suddenly looked like a matured lady to him.
Maan ' then why can't we have kids?
Geet looked at him in utter shock. Did he too believe like others that she can't get pregnant. Tear threaten to break its barrier. She didn't feel a bit hurt with all taunts from those ladies but maans words just tore her apart.
Maan was totally confused ' if her reports all are normal, then why she is not able to conceive.
Dr narrowed her brows ' who said she can't conceive.
Maan didn't understand. Yah right no one said that.. he thought to himself
dr was also confused now. She looked at Geet ' r u guys planning a family finally
Geet dipped her head.
Maan very proudly accepted ' off course yes
Geet laughed to herself when was she ever part of his plan, for her to know anything now. & the irony of faith. He is planning of kids & she is planning of divorce. But she still didn't understand why maan wanted kids all of a sudden.
Dr was more delighted than ever. She had seen the sadness in geets eyes all this years. Especially when she came for check up & sadly accepting she was still having the birth control pills.
PAST
Dr was taken to past, after the second abortion. Geet was totally broken. Dr was also disturbed
dr ' agar tum dono ko abhi kid nahi chayien tho kuch protection kyun nahi use karten
Geet was little uncomfortable discussing that. How could she explain the dr her relation with her husband. Abortion tho discuss nahi karten.. birth control karngen. .. she sighed
Dr then had suggested Geet to take birth control pills to avoid such situation & Geet had been very prompt with it too. She definitely didn't have in her to go through another abortion.
PRESENT
dr smile & took out her note pad & scribbled ' Geet u can stop having those birth control pills. Yeh lo.. have these multivitamin tablets. I am sure in 2-3 months ur cycle will be normal.
Maan was on cloud nine. He had a big grin on his face like he had made it to moon. Geet looked at his face in disbelieve for she had never seen him smile like this... still unsure why was he so happy. Still didn't understand him.. was he really thinking they would make babies now!!!. Did he still believe pammi was the reason for the divorce!!! she definitely expected him to be smarter than that.
