Arnav went into the bar. It was 11:30 o'clock on an unusually cold weekday evening... The bar, a neighborhood one, was full of people; off course that time a lot of people would be in the bar' Ignoring everyone Arnav went and sat on a stool. The bartender came over. "Long time didn't see you," he said.
"Yeah, long time. Been pretty busy." Actually, he'd kept away since that winter night when he and Lavanya had their last drink before she flew back to Sydney at her cousin wedding. A month or so later, he'd received a call from her. She was staying there now, had gotten a job in NG Fashion Company. She was sorry. Arnav had wondered if she'd hooked up with her high school boyfriend that she'd told him about. Well, it didn't matter now because she wasn't coming back now'
Bartender had brought him a whiskey sour. "So you remembered my drink?"
"Sure. You and Lavanya had that all the time. Well, why she didn't come today?"
"Yeah but She is not coming back now" Arnav said looking at his whiskey glass...
"What happen?" Did you guys break up? She loved you a lot so how can this be possible? The bartender said confusingly'
"She went to Sydney for her cousin wedding but she got a job in NG Fashion Company so she was sorry."
"You gotta be kidding me right? She left AR Company'The biggest company'"
"Not the biggest" Arnav corrected the bartender..
"Going to be soon so what the difference is?"
After not getting any response from Arnav the bartender spoke again..
"Well, we didn't figure she was. She was really kind of a Midwestern girl, wasn't she?"
"I suppose so." As he tasted the drink, icy cold, good.
"How've you been?"
"Okay," Arnav lied. Since Lavnaya had left he'd been miserable.. Yeah how could he feel okay?
"So how is AR going on?"
"It's good, Been working hard lately"
"That's good. Keep your mind occupied." It hadn't kept him from thinking about Lavanya.
"Well I am trying to but can't forget her... Whatever I do I remember her" Arnav said he put his glass down...
Another customer had come in, one of the regulars and bartender went down the bar to serve him. Arnav looked into his drink. It couldn't help but remind him of all the times he'd come in here with Lavanya. Maybe coming back was a mistake. Then someone else came in, a girl, and sat a stool away from him.
The bartender came over to the girl and said, "Hi,Khushi. How you doing?"
The girl said, "Its every cold outside'Give me something that will my body hot'She was a girl with black hair and eyes, attractive, nice legs. Arnav smiled to himself at how she was almost the exact opposite of his Lavanya.
The bartender gave Khushi a whiskey sour. "Hey," he said. "Found any job?"
"Still bad luck.. Nope.."
"Why?"
"I don't know anyone here who can help me find a good job" Khushi said looking down..
"Maybe one person can help you"
"Who?" Khushi asked curiously
The bartender walked to Arnav..
"Arnav can you help one of my friend.. She needs a job and who can be better than AR?"
Before Arnav could say anything the bartender spoke again'
" Khushi this is AS..."
Before the bartender could say something Arnav stepped in...
"Arnav.. My name"
Sydney?and then Arnav was lost in his thoughts hearing the place name where his Lavanya was'.But knew he shouldn't show it to anyone else his pain'.
Khushi smiled...
They said "Hi" and told each other...
"So looking for job?" Arnav asked..
"Yeah.. But luck is not with me right now... Can't find any'" Khushi said getting sad...
"Arnav didn't knew why but seeing her sad he felt something in his heart' Why was he feeling bad for her? He never cared about any other girl except Lavanya and now here he is.. who met her like 10 mins ago and is already effecting him..
"Well, I have a job for you"
"What? No no I don't want to give you any trouble'Have already given many people now not you.."
"No, I know someone who can give you a job...If you want you can come for an interview tomorrow at 8 am"
"8 am? I can't get up that soon?" Khushi said pouting her lips to which Arnav smiled'
"What about 11"
"Yeah, I can come at that time..."
So why you moved from Sydeny?" Arnav finally asked the question he was thinking to ask her'.
To tell you the truth, I broke up with my e-boyfriend so wanted get away. An old story, right?"
"Yeah." Just like Lavanya. Only now Lavanya might have gotten back with hers. "Think you'll ever go back there, to Sydney?"
She smiled an attractive smile that brightened her face. "Back to my old days? Never.."
