VIRIKA - You are my Heartbeat: LAST CHAPTER!!!! - Page 30

It was New Year's eve and everyone's last night in NYC. Karan had to resume back to work on the second, even though everyone else weren't busy till the 5th. They all decided they would bring in the New Year's in Viren and Jeevika's suite as they had the perfect view from their room and could watch the famous Town Square ball drop. They knew it would be too darn crowded and cold to actually go out in person and wait till the clock struck midnight. They were all settled in the living room area sitting on the sofas. There were a few minutes left till midnight and a few of them wanted to go upstairs to the terrace even though they knew it would be packed up there too.

viren - "You guys go ahead, we'll be here"

Soon all of their friends left and it was just Jeevika and Viren alone. Both of them went out on their balcony and were counting down the minutes now.

jeevika - "Viren are you excited for a new year. There are going to be so many changes this year. You'll be done studying for the rest of your life and we're going to have a baby. Aren't you scared of whats going to happen. If we'll be able to cope up with everything?"

viren - "As long as I have you by my side I can overcome anything"

It was the last ten seconds before the New Year's. As soon as it struck midnight he and Jeevika brought in their new year's with a long romantic kiss.

jeevika - "Happy New Year's Mr. Vadhera"

viren - "And to you too Mrs. Vadhera"

They kissed each other again , but only for a small period of time.

jeevika - "We forgot to wish someone else and now he's reminding us, well me in particular"

Viren just laughed and then kissed her stomach. Soon enough all their friends came in wishing each other a very happy new year's. Virat and Manvi had bright a cake and they all cut it and fed each other. After another hour of talking everyone went to their respective rooms to sleep. Viren and Jeevika finished packing their bags with all the new stuff they bought for themselves and their baby. By the time they went to bed it was almost 3 am and they have a flight to catch at 7 am. Jeevika stood restless the whole night, not being able to sleep a minute. At first she just stared at Viren watching him sleep peacefully. She strolled her hand in his hair as she had nothing better to do. She lay there for another hour before she got up and went to the living area with her iPhone. She started looking at all the comments people were making on her and Viren's photos on fb posted by Manvi and Zoya. It was finally 5 am and Viren's alarm started beeping. He heard the shower on and assumed Jeevika was inside the bathroom. He got up after another 10 minutes and saw her all dressed and ready to go.

viren - "How did you wake up so fast jeevs"

jeevika - "I didn't sleep all night"

viren - "Why?"

jeevika - "I don't know I was feeling restless"

viren - "Its okay, you can sleep on the plane now. I'll be back in 10 minutes"

Viren showered and in another half an hour they were all out of the hotel. They checked in at the airport, which wasn't rush at all due to it being new years. Jeevika went to buy some gatorade for herself while Viren was getting their boarding passes. Their flight left on time and Jeevika couldn't sleep the whole way there. She really just wanted to be in her bed and not sitting in some uncomfortable seat. They reached home at 7 pm and everyone was drained out from not getting any sleep, especially Jeevika. They all left the airport saying goodbye and taking separate taxis home. As soon as they got home, Jeevika went straight unto her bathroom and took a bath. All that sitting made her body ache ever more. She changed into her night suit and then took her heating pad out and fell asleep in Viren's arms.

Everyone was back to their busy schedule again. Now they were all looking forward to the next few months. Viren and Jeevika were expecting a baby and Zoya and Karan were getting married in June. They just had to get by a few more months, few more tough months. It was almost the end of January and Jeevika was starting her sixth month now. She was leaving for the hospital super early one morning as she got a page from one of her senior doctors. Luckily Zoya was going for the same reason as well. She got ready and then kissed Viren bye who was still sleeping.

jeevika - "I just got a page and I have to leave right now. I'll see you later today." - she said whispering to him.

Viren nodded with a smile and then Jeevika left. Viren got up after an hour and was getting ready for class. Since this was his last semester now in law school, he only had 2 classes left to take, but he resumed working at the same firm as in the summer before.

at the hospital:

zoya - "Want to go grab some coffee?"

jeevika - "Yup, I'm super tired right now. Need some caffeine"

Both of them went to the cafeteria and got some coffee. They sat there as they had a little break before they had to resume back to work.

jeevika - "So did you and Karan decide on a venue yet?"

zoya - "Nope, not yet. I want to do it outdoors, somewhere on the beach but Karan is kind of skeptical because he wants a huge hall as he was a vast family"

jeevika - "Yeah, weddings can be so hard to plan. It's especially hard making everyone feel content"

zoya - "Seriously. So I think we're going to be going for another speciality today"

jeevika - "I know finally. I changed my mind about psychology. I want to find something better than that now"

zoya - "I agree, come let's go report back now"

Both of them walked back to their stations waiting for their senior doctor to come. Dr. Adams was on their duty again and she assigned everyone a new field.

Dr. Adams - "Jeevika and Zoya, both of you are going to go to gynecology for the next 3 weeks with me and then you'll be going to gastroenterology following that. You guys had to report early this morning, so you can finish the remaining patients from today and leave. I'll see you guys here tomorrow at 10 am sharp"

Both of them went and finished their charts and seeing off their patients. Jeevika messaged Zoya that she was leaving and she'd see her tomorrow. As she was getting in the car, she called Viren asking him where he was.

viren - "Just finished class. Where are you?"

jeevika - "Leaving the hospital, got done early today"

viren - "Want to go somewhere? Or are you tired"

jeevika - "I was thinking should we go buy stuff for the nursery? We need to start putting everything together because we're both going to be busy soon."

viren - "Okay, I'll meet you at the store near our home in 15 minutes"

jeevika - "Okay love"

Jeevika got to the store in five minutes and was waiting in her car. She fell asleep waiting for viren. Viren got a stuck in traffic and he couldn't find Jeevika. He saw her car so he went near it and saw her sleeping inside. He took another photo of her sleeping in her scrubs with her bump all in one picture :D. He then knocked on her window seat, and she opened her car and got out.

viren - "Sorry I got stuck in traffic. You sleepy?" he said fixing her hair up.

jeevika - "A little. Come lets go" - she said locking the door to her car.

They both entered the store and were ecstatic looking at all the things there from the clothes to the cribs. They went around the entire store spending a lot of time in every section making sure they got everything they needed. Most important was the car seat, crib, and stroller.

jeevika - "Viren I like this red car seat better"

viren - "Jeevs the blue is cuter. Look at it, come on"

jeevika - "No we're getting the red one. Its my decision :p"

viren - "Okay fine, but if you get to choose this then I get to name our son. And you can't deny whatever name I choose"

jeevika - "viren thats really not fair. I'm the one who has to go through all the pain and keep the little munchkin inside me for 9 month and you get to decide to name without consulting me? That's really not cool"

viren - "Okay okay I was just kidding. Should we go pay for all this now or do you need anything else?"

jeevika - "I need sleep! so lets go pay for this"

Both of them went to pay for all their stuff. Viren carried out all the stuff to the car while some workers brought in the heavy items and placed it in the truck.

viren - "You hungry?"

jeevika - "Sleepy more than hungry"

viren - "Okay let's go home and make something then you can sleep"

jeevika - "Okay"

Both of them got in their own cars and drove home.

viren - "Feel like having some soup?"

jeevika - "Sure, can you warm it up till I go shower really quickly"

viren - "Okay"

Jeevika went to shower and then they both came back and were drinking soup.

jeevika - "Can we set up the nursery tonight?"

viren - "Yeah, I just have to run to work but I'll be home in the evening by 8. But we can't set it up in the empty downstairs bedroom right. I mean if he starts crying then we're not going to want to go downstairs to pick him up"

jeevika - "So then should we move the office downstairs and the nursery upstairs."

viren - "Yup, and you know what its perfect. Cause the office is already panted blue and brown. So we don't even have to paint anything now"

jeevika - "Yeah, but we have to move everything from the office downstairs. That took us so much time to set up"

viren - "It's okay, we'll do it. We have plenty of time. Okay I'm going to run to work now, I'll see you tonight" he said giving her a kiss.

Viren left for work and Jeevika went to sleep.
