Chapter 31
It was next morning, the day of Sonam's departure for Mumbai. Rishi was in a very bad mood. He had a sleepless last night which had added to his grumpy mood.He felt cheated as he was not told anything about that incident in last 3 years. He had always considered Sonam much more than his best friend and this matter had made him doubt his relationship with her.
How dare she hide something like this?? That too when that Harshad too knew about it but she didn't think it necessary to talk to me about that?? What does she think of herself?? How can she call herself my FRIEND when she has been hiding things from me all this time??
Upon that, he did not get a chance to talk to Sonam as Payal & Khushi were with Sonam the whole night. He didn't want to b around anyone at this moment.
Dining Room
Everybody was present for the breakfast excpt Rishi.
Rohan: Where is Rish??
Arnav: I have no idea. Haven't seen him this morning.
Arjun: He's very upset. Tbi breakfast k liye nai aaya.
Khushi: Hum unka breakfast unke room mein bhijwa dete hain.
Sonam (leaving her seat): Rehne do Dii. Mai le jaungi.
Khushi: Lekin pehle tum to kha lo.
Sonam: Uske saath hi kha lungi. Don't worry.
With that, Sonam loaded the tray with breakfast for herself & Rishi and left.
Rishi's Room
Rishi was standing near the window staring outside at nothing in particular. Sonam quietly entered the room n closed the door behind her. She kept the tray on the side table & came to stand behind Rishi.
Rishi had felt her presence the moment she entered his room but he did not acknowledge it. He remained standing the same way. Sonam was thinking of how to start a conversation but Rishi beat her at that.
Rishi: Kya aayi ho yahan??
Sonam: Maana k mujhse naraaz ho. Lekin khane pe gussa nai nikalte. Chalo pehle chup chap breakfast kr lo.
Rishi (controlling his temper): Tumhe kya fark padta hai?? Tumhare well wishers neeche hain. Yahan apna time waste mt kro. Waise b mai toh tumhara kuch nai lagta na, fir tumhe meri parwah krne ki koi zarurat nai hai.
Sonam (acting normal): Aise kaise zarurat nai hai?? Of course zarurat hai. Chalo pehle breakfast kr lo. Baki baatein baad mein krenge.
Rishi (turning to face Sonam): Mujhe na toh tumse koi baat krni hai or na hi tumhari koi baat sunni hai. (shouting) Just Get Out of MY room.
Sonam: Dekho Rish hum iss baare mein baat krte hain but at least eat something first N then...
Rishi (grabbing her by shoulders n shouting): Shut up!! Not a word from u. Tb baat kyu nai ki jb 3 saal se ye decide kr lia k mujhe kuch batane ki zarurat nai hai?? Tb baat kyu nai ki jb tumhari ek call pe mai tumhare paas pohanchne k liye zameen aasman ek krne ko taiyyar tha?? Kyu mujhe ye sb logon se pata chala jbki u should have been the one to tell me about it?? Why Sonam?? Didn't u trust me?? Kya tumhe sach mein lagta hai k mai sirf tumhara dost hu, or kuch b nai?? Kya mujhe batane ki zarurat nai thi?? Kya mujhe jaan-ne ka haq nai tha k tumhari life mein kya chal raha hai?? (shaking her) Say something now dammit!! Why r quiet??
Sonam was trying to hold back the tears which were threatening to fall. But the tears had their own mind & they started flowing freely after listening to Rishi's words.
Sonam (in tears & struggling to release herself from his hold): U r hurting me Rish!!
Rohan: U have hurt me worse Sonam. Just leave.
With that he left her arms with a jerk n turned his back towards her.
Sonam (wiping her tears): Fine Rish!! Good bye. But before leaving, i need to tell u something. Its not that i didn't try to tell u. I called u that very day. But even before i could speak, u started telling me how hot ur new girlfriend Elena is. U didn't give me a chance to say anything as u disconnected the call saying that u r getting late for ur date. Next time, get ur facts right before blaming me for something. Bye.
Sonam left the room leaving a guilt ridden Rishi behind.
Dining Room
Khushi: Arre Chhutki tumne breakfast kia??
Sonam: Mera pait bhar gaya Dii. Ab bs mai ready ho jati hu. Nikalna b hai. Nai toh late ho jaungi.
Sonam's departure was a very emotional moment. Where Arjun, Rohan, Arnav n Akash were telling her to take care, Payal & Khushi were crying buckets embracing her in a hug. Arnav had to actually pull Khushi away from Sonam to let her breathe as Khushi was hugging her too tightly n Sonam was almost choking. Rishi was standing there too but neither could he gather enough courage to bid goodbye, nor Sonam gave him a single glance. Sonam & Anjali left a bit early as they had to pick Sriti & Harshad from their respective homes on the way.
After they left, Khushi was feeling very upset & was not ready to stop shedding tears.
Arnav: Don't worry Khushi. She'll b fine.
Khushi (still crying): Humara usse akele bhejne ka bilkul mann nai tha.
Arnav: Lekin wo akeli nai hai. Harshad, Sriti or fir Dii b toh uske saath hain.
Khushi (hicupping): Wo theek hogi na??
Arnav (hugging Khushi to comfort her): Trust me. She'll b fine.
And Khushi trusted his words & felt at peace.
