On the dance floor, O Kudiye!

Across channels, Sony's similar minded show, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja, is down to its last five participants. Pooja Bedi was the surprise exit in the first round (couldn't the channel have ensured her retention, if only for the glam and energy quotient she supplies?). But now the fight has narrowed to three actors (Mona Singh, Akashhdeep Saigal and Shveta Salve), one ex-cricketer (Ajay Jadeja) and a filmmaker (Mahesh Manjrekar). And despite earlier misgivings, this Thursday's episode was quite entertaining. Every participant has remarkably improved his/her dancing skills, making the performances a pleasure to watch. But the icing on the cake is Manjrekar, who outdoes others and himself every time with his creativity. His 'amba' version of the samba had to be seen to be believed. Let's hope Mahesh doesn't suffer Pooja's fate before the finals.

While Thursday's episodes are shaping up, it's the elimination episode on Wednesday that lets you down. Hosts Parmeet and Archana have obviously told to stretch the suspense for an hour before declaring the eliminated participant. The viewer has to endure endless close up shots of the hapless participants till the result is announced, not to mention the umpteen ad breaks. Frankly, it gets on your nerves.
