Hiten views on money
Irrespective of the amount of money that you earn, you must cultivate the habit of saving" -Hiten tejwani

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Hiten Tejwani was always passionate about acting. He started his acting career by performing in the 'Ankur Theatre Group'. In fact, he also enacted in a few street plays. With his good looks, he was soon offered roles in various television serials. He faced the camera for the first time in the serial "Ghar ek mandir" which was aired on Sony television. This was followed by "Kabhie sauten kabhie saheli" and "Kahien kisi roz". The central character of Pratham in "Kutumb" for Balaji telefilms turned out to be a winning role for him. From thereon he has never looked back. Fame, money, and recognition just followed. Serials in which Hiten is presently featuring include "Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", "Kavyanjali" and "Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hain". Being married to co-actor Gauri Pradhan, Hiten is aware of his responsibilities to his family. He takes some time off from his busy work schedule to talk to Hemant Sanganee about money and its role in his life.
I think money plays an important role in life. Money is what will enable you to not only provide for the basic necessities but will also help you to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of all those people who are important to you.

To an extent, I do believe that money and happiness are related to each other. However, I also believe that to be happy you don't always need money.

Currently, the only investment that I have is my house into which most of my savings have been channelled. Of course, I have already taken sufficient life and health insurance.

I would definitely not consider myself a spendthrift. But I'm not a miser either. It is just that at this stage of my life, I would like my family and myself to be financially secure and hence, I try to save as much as I can.

It is difficult for me to identify activities or products which I would never give a second thought to spending on, since I spend only if it is necessary. I do not believe in spending on activities or products wherein the value derived is much less than the price tag. Further, all decisions pertaining to money are taken jointly by my wife and me.

It is very important that my children realise that money comes only through hard work. They have to learn to respect and value it.

One bit of money advice that I would like to share is that irrespective of the amount of money that you earn, you must cultivate the habit of saving. Today's savings will help you to tide over a financial difficulty that may arise in future.
