Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Corporate', a microscopic intervention into corporate world, created uproar among some business houses and tycoons. This time multifaceted director Mani Ratnam holds the baton and comes up with his ambitious project 'Guru', based on the rivalry between two big business houses.
According to trade reports, the film is based on real life tussle between business magnates that was witnessed in India long time ago - Dhirubhai Ambani and Ramnath Goenka.
Abhishek Bachchan's character has shades from Dhirubhai's real life with beautiful Aishwarya Rai playing his wife. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty's character is inspired from Ramnath Goenka's caricature with R Madhavan playing his son.
While Dhirubhai Ambani set up today's biggest business empire Reliance, Goenka was known for his fearless and anti-establishment newspaper named Indian Express. Versatile actress Vidya Balan will play R Madhavan's wife.
Mani Ratnam's earlier presentations - 'Roja' and 'Bombay' - fell into the genre of thought-provoking cinema. This time, 'Guru' will not remain behind and promises to be another feather in his cap.
