Kareena's ability to pull audiences?

Comparing the opening numbers.

Khiladi 786 - Akshay Kumar + masala film + popular series franchise
8.75 crore (2,786 screens)


Heroine - Kareena & brand Madhur
7.25 crore (2,500 screens)

That IMO is pretty impressive.
Thoughts?

Khiladi 786 has opened quite poor, clearly audience is bored of Akshay Kumar, JTHJ had double the opening inspite of competition

Khiladi 786's songs trailors everything sucked right from the beginning. It was expected that it wud open poorly. But Heroine was promoted like there was no tomorrow and trailors gave high hope (to me atleast) but it surely didn't reach where it was expected to.

I thought Khiladi would score a bigger opening day considering the genre. But honestly I'm not interested in watching either of these two flicks

khiladi 786 might not opened well but it will do better business than heroine.

Starpower CANNOT be defined by overall status of film coz that depends in how GOOD or BAD the film is and its budget. Films with newcomers have been hits in the past, does that mean those new comers have star power?

Ra.one had such a strong opening but fell sharply, but Vicky Donor was a hit. Are you telling me Ayushman has more starpower than Srk?

Only compare openings coz that depends to a large extent on the celebrities and other promotional factors, not how good or bad a film is.

You're comparing 2 different things.
Films with good openings have been hits as well as flops.
Similarly, films with bad openings have been hits as well as flops.
Separate the hit/flop from OPENINgs. They are NOT related

I'm saying if Kareena ANY star gets strong OPENINGS, they have starpower REGARDLESS of whether the film flops later on.

If a star is getting POOR opening numbers constantly that star does NOT have starpower, even if that film is a hit later on, coz audiences didn't throng to the theaters just based on that star being in the film, but the film was good and picked up later.

she doesnt have star power... getting just good opening doesn't mean star power ...it has to sustain at box office irrespective of review ...among current actress only Kat has ability to pull audiences...despite getting good reviews EMAET was average at the box office whereas MBDKD is hit with mixed reviews

Herone did not open very well! A good opening is something like what ETT and JTHJ got!
