a few weeks later...
It was the night before their San Francisco trip and Viren and Jeevika were both packing their bags. Jeevika started feeling a little dizzy so she sat down.
viren - "Whats wrong jeevs?" - he said sitting next to her.
jeevika - "I'm just tired, i think i'll finish packing tomorrow morning"
viren - "Okay, let me put you down"
Jeevika lay down and Viren covered her up with the blanket. He finished packing his bag and went to sleep next to Jeevika. Jeevika woke up early the next morning finishing her packing. Viren woke up by the time she finished taking a shower.
viren - "Goodmorning, how are you feeling?"
jeevika - "Perfect, get ready fast the taxi will be here in an hour to drop us at the airport"
Viren got up, showered, and they soon left their home. They finished checking in at the airport and were sitting next to their gate.
jeevika - "Viren, can we go get some coffee? I think I'm having withdrawals and my head is starting to hurt again."
viren - "Let's go" he said extending his hand out.
They both went to get some coffee from starbucks. Viren ordered one venti americano for the both of them to share. As soon as the coffee came Jeevika took a sip. She thought it would be better to take some medications just so she would feel fine on the plane. She took out two pills from her purse and swallowed them. Soon the both of them left as it was time to board their flight. The medicine got Jeevika really sleepy and she fell asleep with her head on Viren's shoulder. It usually takes a little more than 2 hours to reach San Fran, but their flight left late due to some issues. Jeevika had been asleep the whole time. She woke up half an hour before their flight was to land.
jeevika - "What time is it? shouldn't we have reached by now?"
viren - "The flight left late, we'll be there in another thirty minutes"
jeevika - "Viren, I'm feeling really uncomfortable right now"
viren - "What happened?" he said cupping her face
jeevika - "I think, I'm going too" she said covering her mouth up.
She quickly got up from her seat and ran to the nearest restroom. Viren followed right behind her. He kept knocking on the door, but she wouldn't open it. She came out after 5 minutes looking drained out. He helped her back to their seat and made her lie down on his chest.
"What's wrong with her?" - he thought.
They soon reached San Fran and luckily their hotel was near the airport. Viren went to go get their keys to the room as Jeevika was in the gift shop. She came across a pregnancy test kit and started feeling uneasy.
"could i be pregnant?" - she thought to herself.
The thought of having a child right now scared the crap out of her. She had to know, so she bought two kits and snuck it in her purse not wanting Viren to see it. As soon as they got to the room she went inside the bathroom. Viren was sitting outside. Jeevika was taking quite a while so he decided to go inside the bathroom to make sure she was okay. He went inside and saw her sitting on the floor with her hands on her head looking down. It seemed like she was crying.
viren - "Whats wrong jeevika? Let's go take you to some doctor. I'll call my friend up, he'll know somebody here"
jeevika - "Viren i don't need a doctor, i think i can handle myself"
viren - "Jeevika why are you getting angry?"
Jeevika looked at Viren and tried indicating the two pregnancy tests on the ground. Viren looked at it shocked.
viren - "What does this mean?"
jeevika - "One kit shows I'm pregnant and the other shows i'm not"
viren - "But, I mean, wait" he said all confused.
jeevika - "Viren im scared. I'm really scared"
viren - "Jeevika don't worry I'm here with you, nothings going to happen" - he said as calmly as he could.
Viren was panicking from the inside, but wanted to stay calm for her.
jeevika - "I need some sleep, please help me get up"
Viren helped her up and tucked her in. He sat next to her patting her head thinking. He was actually more excited than sad now that he realized she might be pregnant. As soon as she was asleep, he went downstairs to get her some food to eat. He also went to buy powerade and gatorade hoping she would feel a little more energetic. He came back to his room and she was still asleep.
"What if she really is pregnant? That means I'm going to be a dad, that means I will have a family of my own? I lost all my family already, and now I might have started my own family" - viren thought
Somehow this baby idea was sounding more appealing by the second to Viren, but he was skeptical whether or not Jeevika would be happy.
Jeevika woke up in the evening, still not feeling great.
jeevika - "Viren, i think I'm going to go fly back home. I can't think right now and I'm petrified"
viren - "Okay, i'll go book our tickets"
jeevika - "Listen viren, I'll go by myself. I need some space right now and plus we had plans with your friends tomorrow afternoon"
viren - "But jeevika, i don't want to leave you like this. I mean if it is something like what we think it maybe then i should be there to right?"
jeevika - "Its okay viren, you can fly back tomorrow night. I need to get away and be home right now"
viren - "Okay"
Jeevika took her stuff and went straight to the airport. Viren was confused and lost at what just happened. He couldn't think straight. What was happening and what is going to happen in the future now?
Viren, as expected, couldn't sleep all night long. He kept messaging Jeevika making sure she was okay. The next day Viren called up his friends telling them if they could meet earlier as he had to fly back at noon. He met his friends, but could barely focus on anything besides Jeevika. He got a text from her saying "the blood report came to be negative." Viren's heart had shattered for a moment. Even though he still wasn't done with his education, he was ready to have a family of his own. But he consoled himself thinking that it would happen at the right time. Jeevika again messaged him saying that he shouldn't change his flight now and that he should just enjoy with his friends till Sunday. Viren didn't tell her though that he was coming home in a few hours.
Viren left for the airport right after meeting his friends. He caught the plane and was ready to go home, go to Jeevika. He got a taxi once he reached. When he entered the house, he saw Jeevika's car not being there. He thought to himself that she probably went to the hospital for some work. Viren went to shower and came downstairs. He was watching tv in the family room, when someone called on the home phone. By the time he found the phone, the person cut the phone and was leaving a message. Viren was blown away by what he heard on the phone. He was speechless. How was this even possible?
