Dabangg 2, a rip-off of Gabbar Singh?
Salman Khan's 'Dabangg 2' might run into some rough weather with some sections of the industry claiming that a few scenes of the sequel resembles those of the Telugu blockbuster Gabbar Singh. Ironically, Gabbar Singh itself was a remake of the original 'Dabangg'.
While Telugu producer Bandla Ganesh had initially rubbished the rumours, as the release date of the film approaches, the rumours are getting stronger. Gabbar Singh director Harish Shankar had tweaked the script of 'Dabangg' to a large extent and had moulded it to suit the Telugu audience and Pawan Kalyan fans had lapped it up.
Even Salman Khan and Co. had watched the film and praised the filmmaker for "making it more fun" than the original.
The producer and director had not in their wildest dreams thought that other than praising their film, the Khans would actually lift some scenes. "We have come to know that they have copied the famous antakshari scene of 'Gabbar Singh' where goons were singing Telugu songs… even an action sequence around a kabbadi game and a comedian carrying a cut-out of Pawan Kalyan to terrify rogues, have been copied," says a source.
While Bandla Ganesh might have bought the remake rights of 'Dabangg 2' after judging its success, he does not rule out suing Salman & Co now. "Firstly, I had no plans of procuring the remake rights of 'Dabangg 2' and regarding copying of scenes, I am not aware of it. But I'll surely check it out and take necessary steps," says the producer, who had to pay Rs 25 lakh to the Sippys for using the title 'Gabbar Singh'.
The buzz is that Salman had big stakes involved in the sequel and going by the success of 'Gabbar Singh', he had redesigned the sequel more as a comedy than an action film.
