Mumbai: The term 'Hundred Crore Club' is something that you might have heard a number of times in the recent past. Indeed it is the latest trend of the Bollywood that has brought this word to limelight and has even stroked a kind of race amongst the elite filmmakers to reach the land mark of whooping Hundred Crore grosser.

In the history of Indian Cinema, there have been ups and downs that have led to joys and sorrows big time. But, during the lean patches, somewhere down the lane lies a film that evaporates clouds of worries and showers pools of praises on the dearth fighting box office.

The list is quite long of the films who have worked wonders for the sinking Hindi cinema ship as the anchor. Some have even gone far than just being hits. They have smashed the records at the cinema houses' windows. Increased the footfalls when they were least.

We are going to take you on a tour of the movies that have taken the Hindi Cinema to an aura of class performers. These may be countable, but the success that they have attained at the Box office is something beyond imagination.
Here's a look of the Rs 100 crore+ grossers.

The highest ever grosser:

The crown of the highest money making film both in India and abroad goes to none other than Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots. The film starred Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan opposite Kareena Kapoor. The film hit the silver screen on December 25, 2009 and roared aloud with the outset. Though, the budget of the film was Rs. 35 crore but it paid back way more than that. The film grossed a mountainous Rs. 385 Crore leaving any Indian film way behind.

On the number two list is a film that was a conventional action packed Hindi Cinema entertainer. Salman Khan's Bodyguard. Released on August 31, 2011, it is the third remake of Siddiqui's own 2010 Malayalam film of the same name, the second being the 2011 Tamil film Kaavalan. The film was produced by Atul Agnihotri and features Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. It also stars Raj Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar and Hazel Keech in supporting roles. The film grossed Rs. 230 Crore while it was made with the budget of Rs 64 crore.

Next in the list Shahrukh Khan's mega blockbuster My Name Is Khan which was released in February 12, 2010. The film was directed by Karan Johar, written by Shibani Bathija and starred Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. It was produced by Hiroo Johar, Gauri Khan and Shahrukh Khan. The budget of the film was 38 crore whereas it repaid approx. 200 crore.

Followed by MNIK, Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om tops the list. OSO was a Bollywood musical film directed and choreographed by Farah Khan. It featured Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles while Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade, and Kirron Kher feature in supporting roles. The film grossed 149 crores whereas it was made with just Rs 30 crore.

The latest runner in the hunt for the highest grosser of Bollywood is Shahrukh Khan's yet another gala opener Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Directed by Yash Chopra, the film also features Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The film's budget was Rs 50 Crore but the film has continued to yield heavy sums. By now the film has grossed Rs 174 Crore and is continuing to do well.

More than anything OSO started off the trend of mega scale promotions if I'm not mistaken. I still love those MTV promotions they did with Cyrus
