'Pavitra Rishta' comes to Kolkata post 6-month leap
Rithvik Dhanjani
Pavitra Rishta — which had taken a 20-year-leap this time last year — is all set for a six-month leap this December 3. The show will soon be transported to Kolkata where Arjun ( Rithvik Dhanjani), now an accomplished businessman, will be seen travelling for a meeting with a renowned gynaecologist. Shakti Arora will make an entry in the serial as Kolkata-based gynaecologist Dr Onir Dutta. Dr Dutta is the only man capable of helping Arjun's wife, Ovi (Shruti Kanwar), who is pregnant with several complications.

Meanwhile, viewers will also get to see Purvi ( Asha Negi), Arjun's former love, in a traditional Bengali laal par saada saree. She is also in Kolkata too and is also expecting a child.

Viewers will have to grapple with questions like has she settled down in Kolkata? Who is she married to? And who is the father of her child?

The crew, who shot in Kolkata, went gaga about the city. Asha said, "Since I am seen to be pregnant in the portions we shot in Kolkata, it was like a Vidya Balan's Kahaani moment for me. I am in love with Kolkata. I often had breakfast at Flurys and I would invariably make my driver stop for egg rolls, kathi rolls and phuchkas by the roadside. My discovery of the trip, however, was the baked rasgullas at Balaram's that became such a huge hit amongst the crew that we'd order them in bulk. I wish we'd shot just a little earlier in Kolkata and experienced the frenzy and buzz of Pujo. But I had a whale of a time anyway!"

In his turn, Rithivik said, "Kolkata has such a quaint old-worldly charm. It was such a unique experience to take the tram and walk by the Victoria memorial, watching the horses grazing peacefully, couples romantically cuddling up. A meal I cannot forget was one that I had at Bhojori Manna. I was left licking my fingers as I polished off Shorshe maach, Poshto aloo, Malai chingdi and Nolen gurer Ice cream. Another memorable evening was when I went boating in the Hooghly river and saw the new Howrah bridge!"
