What a pathetic excuse for living in a chawl

Come one Ekta and Co, who are you fooling with your ridiculous story as to why billionaire Manav and seven adults live a two room house! You seriously love the place? Great, then visit on occasion or do something to make it better for you and everyone around you!

So I am guessing that no-one agrees with me and you've all bought the story Ekta had her writers come up with to explain why these guys live in a chawl?😕

I agree with ur each n every word👍🏼 Its just that Ekta wants to save money thats why she has shown them living in chawl

My dear Laila,

What a relief to at last find a very sensible and tightly argued post, and that too one that does not deal with the assorted miseries of Arjun, Purvi and Ovi ! Congratulations on one of the most rational pieces of writing I have read here in a while.

But I think the reason why Ekta keeps Manav in the chawl is for the fake glorification of lower middle class mores and way of life. She thinks it helps large sections of the viewership identify positively with Manav and Archana. She would not be caught dead living in a chawl herself.

As for Archana and Manav being loved by their fellow chawlwallahs, these were the very people who lodged false charges against him in the chawl demolition case, with the help of his beloved wife, who then chose to believe their false charges and not her husband's protestations of innocence. He escaped being jailed for several years only because one of the accusers had a belated attack of conscience and, at the last moment, told the truth about the fake affidavits in court.

PS: As for the number of buckets, at a conservative estimate, it would come to 70 buckets daily for the household as a whole and for 7 adults. Now how are they going to even get that number, fighting for it with the rest of the chawl? I think Ekta attaches some unknown spiritual significance to standing in line for water😉. As soon as Arjun came to live in their chawl, we saw Purvi in line for the first time ever!

The place needs an upgrade. The women stand in line, carry heavy buckets and you could fix it by getting everyone indoor plumbing. Are you that cheap? Your wife, your mother, they're tired. And don't tell me they just lug two buckets up there. There are SIX adults and they all need to shower and bathe, use the water when going to the restroom (by the way, where is the restroom? And what about laundry? Don't tell me they're washing their clothes by hand! Is it a communal one? Is there just one?), eating...come one Ekta, be real.

No businessman would have it this way. Seriously.

Plus these people have spent 18 years of their lives in Canada. No-one goes back to living in the same dump they left - they build a house. A home! They lived a luxurious life there - Ovi, Tej had their own rooms, Sachin too. Even Purvi had her own room and space! And Sachin is a lawyer and all he has is a laptop to do his work? He needs a frigging office area...have you not seen the number of files and paperwork lawyers bring home?

If the writers wanted to keep them in the darn chawl, do what the writers in the UK drama, Eastenders did. They had a character, Ian, who became rich. He wanted to live near his family and friends, so he bought two houses and renovated them. Ekta didn't even have Manav do this. Plus rich people have STUFF!

Seriously Ekta, you have A LOT of rich friends and I guarantee you NONE of them live in chawl.

And yes, money does not buy happiness but it makes life a lot easier when you have it. Ekta has never done without or she would not be pushing such a romantic concept. And may I say this that NOT having money does not make anyone happier.

Yes! Finally someone agrees that this is pathetic! It's very unrealistic and I'm sure f this was the case in reality, a billionaire would surely get jumped in a chawl. :p
And I think it's honestly because Ekta is just cheap as hell. She doesn't like spending money on te sets or even the clothes the actors where. In her show Parichay, there was a 9 year leap and eruone is still wearing the same clothes after a decade! Hahah
But she really should look at the production design and set design of other shows from other production houses, like IPKKND and QUBOOL HAI. They have nice clothes, change locations often but still keep that level of professionalism. :p

I think the only reason why Manav is still in the Chawl is because Ekta does not wish to spend any more money on Pavitra Rishta ...Ankita spends her own money on her clothes that is why she wears new clothes but if you see the others , they all have only 3 or 4 sets of clothes ..

Using toilet

Washing clothes

Drinking and cooking water

Glorification of lower middle class by making it about collecting yaaden and holding on to them at the cost of being miserable living conditions..

Most of Ds who lived in Canada for 18 yrs and come back to move and live in chawl 2 bedroom 1 bathroom place..Who does that?

EK is making money off of middle class and lower middle class people.

What kind of memories could these people be making?

These are the same faltoo chawl walas & Archana did a false court case against Manav and Dk's company. Who were going to be provided with 2-3 bdr self contained flats with all the latest facilities and 20-30 Lac RS...But No Archana wanted to collect and hold on to the memories as she entered this chawl after the marriage...Forget abt All the Ds especially Manav who lived in this chawl his whole life was willing keep the memories in his heart but provide better living facilities for the neighbors was defamed by taken to the court with case against him and the CO.

i dont understand Ek and her CVs logic behind doing so...😳
