In a competition should you be judged by your ability or by a uniform standard?

Although Shveta has been appreciated by all the judges, she has been told that "expectations are higher from her". Is that fair? Imagine you taking an exam and getting lower marks because your teachers have higher expectation of you compared to others.

Shouldn't all the contestants be judged on the same basis? It's not her fault that she is a better dancer or is more athletic with a toned body.

i agree that expectations are now higher for shveta but i think it is just human nature to expect more, for example when a directer makes a good film we expect the next to be better ... isnt that the same way we judge films becuz someone is good we expect better
for example after hrithik did KNPH ppl had high exepectations from all his next films, results Aap mujhe achchey lagne lage, and na tum janno na hum flopped miserably, or another example after DDLJ expections for aditya chopra's next film much higher and mohabaatien was a good film but did not meet expections ....
same way shveta has expectations thats how the entertainment business runs ... in reality it is not an exam... it is pure entertainment for the audience

its quite a good topic for a debate...

there should be an uniform standard for making judgement however if one person is already good, more will definitely be expected more from that person....here i refer to indian idol...expectations from karunya were more than rest of the idols only because he was capable of singing any kind of song with ease...

Poohbear -- It's not the same. You are comparing apples with oranges. Having higher expectations is one thing but being fair is another. Expecting more from a movie or a director or an actor is entirely different. They are not in a formatted competition. This is a formatted competition where people are being judged for their performance in a controlled setting where they have to perform on a specific theme each week over a limited number of weeks. This does not compare to having expectations from a movie or an actor in movies that span multiple months/years.

These judges have been selected to see who amongst these contestants performed well that week and over multiple weeks. They are not at liberty to bring their personal relationships with these folks into play nor should they base their judgement on expectations. They should base it solely on performance within the criteria that week.

I think Shweta is superb, esp in todays performance. She also did something new today which made everyone happy 👏 👏 👏 . Dance is not just skill but also expression and variations. That is one reason why her 2nd performance looked bit low though she was excellent but it looked repetition of first one. She came with BANG! for the 3rd and incorporated everything new to her dance. Congrats Shweta 👏

i guess telling someone that their expectation are higher can be a reason for motivation, even though the judges don't think so..the other competitors except sanjeev, in my opinion , are good dancers and as the competition goes on, there will be higher standards and therefore if shveta is already doing good, meeting the higher standards won't be harder for her later

Yep I strongly agree.Judges are giving biased opinion.
