There was no negativity around SOS...

-The court case helped them gain more publicity and bring SOS to limelight esp. when the industry's attention was focused on JTHJ even more due to the sudden death of Yash Chopra. YRF emerged as the "doer of all evils" instead cuz Ajay sued them on monopolizing. So wasn't the negativity directed to JTHJ instead?

-As a few members posted around here, the number of screens for SOS were increased by a few hundred recently.

-The film was guaranteed hit because of its genre. This 'kind' of masala movies are what's working in Bwood right now. JTHJ was always promoted as a romantic movie (which doesn't directly appeal to the masses)...but JTHJ was also a guranteed hit cuz of the star cast + YC's last film etc. etc.

-The number of screens issue:
Some member posted a list of films that had a clash over the years, a few weeks ago. The data showed that there was almost always a discrepancy with the number of screens ...the difference btw the screens ranged from 100-200 anyways. So, I dunno how a difference of 300 btw JTHJ and SOS is made out to be such a big issue now...

absolutely right...people had predicted that JTHJ will recieve all the sympathy and people won't say a single negative word about JTHJ...but just the opposite happened...JTHJ has been beaten black and blue by everyone...from script to the screens issues and everything inbetween...while SOS gained all this sympathy...but in a way I am happy ...atleast now we know that every single dime that JTHJ earned was for its merit and not because of sympathy...if it had recieved positive reviews...people would have definitely said tht postive reviews are all sympathy reviews...so its OK...
And one more thing is that people compare JTHJ with ETT and say...oh it didn't break ETT's record...and the very same people will turn around and say oh SOS earned less then JTHJ because SOS had 500 screens less...am i missing something.?...going by the same logic ..JTHJ also had 800 screens less than ETT...not to forget that it was not a solo release either...so people compare and contrast as it suits them😆

Those are very good argument which can be discussed in a healthy way.. to be honest.. I don't understand these fan wars.. I guess because I stayed away from most of the JTHJ review/ discussion thread.. am not relly aware of the fan wars or why ppl are sick of these two films.

And I actually felt nervous for Shah's movie cuz SOS was good competition...ppl have come to love Ajay and his recent masala movies worked very well like Singham, Golmaal series, and Bol bachan...he has catered his own audience like Salman has. Plus, SRK was involved w/ like 3 controversies within this year which may have damaged his reputation...I actually feared that JTHJ may just become an average movie in terms of business cuz of the many factors working against Shah himself. And as the fact remains, 2 big movies releasing on the same day and yet doing so much business is an achievement in itself...and to be honest, as you can see, Ajay's SOS did give good competition to JTHJ.

All that's well ends well?
I hope everyone can follow this and just stop debating and trying to pull each movie down. I've only recently started getting very irked w/ how everyone is so ready to bring SRK down...and its not just now, its been happening since Salman started rising again, Amir gave Ghajni and 3 Idiots..and now when Ajay is pitted against SRK.

Phew! I guess I'm done...thanks for listening 😳

Ania...and people are forgetting that Salman has donne a cameo role in SOS...which makes its position much stronger...and not to forget that Salman has himself promoted this movie...now if people want to say that Salman's presence has nothing to do with how much the movie made...and they want to discount Salman's star power its there problem...I am going to say that SOS collected atleast 25% more because of salman's cameo role than it would have otherwise...that is the purpose of getting a big star to do the cameo role in any movie...so in terms of star power SOS was as big a movie as JTHJ...

good point. And don't worry about ppl bringing Srk down.. every actor/star gets their share of criticism.

@Lensa: same. I am very happy for Ajay. Some people were writing off SOS just cause it was being released with JTJH and saying it will be a flop and how people were asking him to remove his film.. I didn't like that personally but still, SOS went on to be a hit at Boxoffice and is so close to JTJH numbers wise. Saw a report on TV yesterday which stated its about 15crores behind than JTJH and can catch up soon. I hope it does.
Personally, I am happy for both the films. It was Diwali and it should always be a happy happy time. 😳
