Chitrole to head CID?
By Chaya Unnikrishnan | Agency: DNA
Early this month, news about Shivaji Satam planning to quit the popular detective series CID sent shock waves in TV circles. After all, Satam and his character ACP Pradyuman have been synonymous with each other for the last 15 years. Now, a source says that if Satam quits the show, there's a possibility that DCP Chitrole played by director BP Singh is likely to lead the team in the show.
However, Singh says that he cannot think of CID without Satam. "He has been on the show since the first day. He's family and I will not let him go," says Singh. When asked if he himself will play the central role, the producer-director says that though he enjoys being part of a few episodes, he has no intention of taking over.
"Actually, we were planning four-five episodes in CID where ACP Pradyuman quits and a new ACP with a fresh team of cops comes in. In those episodes the rivalry between the two is played up. It's a co-incidence that the whole thing has come about at the same time," clarifies Singh. The actor to play the new ACP is yet to be finalised. "We are doing our best to sort things and retain Satam. I cannot find a replacement for him," adds Singh.
