This is just a comparision between Kareena's Ek Main aur Ek Tu and Katrina's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

One is a movie produced by Karan Johar and another by Yashraj Films.

Both have Imran Khan as Hero in the lead.

While EMAET had some good supporting cast like Ram Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Boman Irani alongwith Kareena and Imran, MBKD had Ali Zafar and Tara D'Souza (Piyali) alongwith Katrina and Imran.

While EMAET was a flop, MBKD turned out to be a hit.

Both movies are Romantic Comedy so what went wrong with EMAET?

Did people go to watch MBKD for Katrina but were not interested in watching Kareena.
Has Katrina overtaken Kareena?
Does Kareena has no Star Power?
As some people in IF consider more money the movie makes = better movie + Star power

as far as i know EMAET collections were around MBKD 😕 but due to budget it was declared above/below average 😕 also the music of EMAET wasnt as big hit as MBKD so that was also an disadavantage of EMAET 😆 I wouldnt judge katrina's starpower with this film cos even imran had a solo hit with flop queen sonam kapoor 🥱 If delhi belly worked only cos its aamir khan's film then dhobi ghat should have worked too but we all know what happened🥱

First of all

EMAET - was higher budgeted movie. Kareena's + Imran's pay around 15cr. based overseas. Shot in various cities in USA. Then shot in India. Had larger supporting cast. AND FINALLY!!! EMAET WAS NEVER A FLOP. If it was even below average I would've called it flop but the case was this film was Above Average. Which is at same level as Semi-Hit. Also this movie didn't have as popular and massy tracks as MBKD. Didn't have a happy ending. Not so common story.Yet it managed over 40cr.

MBKD - YRF productions, SUPER HIT MUSIC. From Isq Risk, Dhunki, Title track and Madhubala. Imran, Katrina and Ali Zafar. Tara was new and out of nowhere, supporting cast were barely known. Shot overall in 2 bits of India. Was a hit at BO. Obviously - It had happy ending, comedy scenes and item number like Do Dhari Talwar. It was a masala rom-com

It was never Bebo Vs Kareena.

Even Imran Khan has decent fan following. Just to let you know his has only 3 flops so far in last 4 years.

I Hate Luv Storys - Hit (only hit in Sonam's career)

Delhi Belly - Super Hit

Mere Brother Ki Dhulan - Hit

Ek Main Aur Ek Tu - Above Average

Only flops are

Break Ke Baad

Kidnap

Luck

Watch out for Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola opening. Then you'll see it yourself.
