Episode Analysis
Yash does not want you to hide your pain, silly! He wants you to share it with him so you can be equal partners in this relationship. It is going to be great to finally watch Aarti learn that hiding her sadness is not the way to happiness. You cannot fake joy and peace, it has to come from within and it simply cant until you are totally honest and free of burden, which Aarti is certainly not! Once again she is taking herself and her feelings out of the picture completely, concentrating on what everyone else needs. In a warped way, it shows how much she trusts Yash on a deeper level, emotionally, though from a rational perspective, she does not dare place Prashants life in his hands at this delicate stage. He has become, in many ways, an extension of herself, so the fact that she is putting him last on her list of priorities right now is but an extension of putting herself last. To put it in really brash terms, Aarti is taking Yash for granted, but really it is more than just that.
All this is happening subconsciously while at a conscious level she is weary of trusting Yash with the truth for fear that he will reject the effort to save Prashants life, and possibly reject her. Aarti is desperately trying to think in black and white and it is not agreeing with her because that is not her natural way of functioning, not her instinct, She is intuitive usually, rather than rational in her decision making and in this bid to be rational, she is getting influenced by all kinds of adulterer facts and complicating the situation as much as she tries to simplify it. If she would just give into what her instincts and emotions are begging of her and tell Yash the truth, he would take care of all the black and white rational stuff for her, which is his natural forte, especially as this concerns Ansh.
I loved Ansh talking about Yash in the hospital. Though he was not physically present, or even aware of what was going on...he lived in Ansh at those moments through his teachings and his example. When Aarti asked him to help his friend uncle, it was Yashs teachings that he remembered, and when she asked if he was hurt, he proudly declared that he was the strong son of his strong papa. *heart melts away into goo* I am a big fan of the CVs for establishing and re-establishing how Yash is part of Ansh now, much more than Prashant ever will be, though he may share the same DNA. And I love how Aarti was sort of being her old self today, smothering Ansh with kisses and crying before he went into the OR. This reminded me of the scene before his first day of school when she was more nervous than him and Yash told her off for passing on her fears to Ansh. Today too, there was risk of that with no Yash to balance Aarti out, but he was with Ansh all the way. What a love this is, I say!
Today I was a little disappointed with Aarti the parent. When a kid gets to stay home from school and his siblings have to go, you don't do fun things with him like shopping, making it seem to the other kids like he got to have fun all day while they slaved away at their books. Yash, I thought, had the right idea when he was making Ansh read the storybook and learn a lesson from it. I realise that Aarti had to come up with some excuse for her and Ansh being away from home so long, but this is not going to go down well with Palak and Payal, let me tell you. And if Ansh is not allowed to tell them about the BMT, he definitely will want to share the part about the shopping expedition.
Yash is so cute when he was all guilty about lying to Aarti, but it worries me about how he sees her as this paragon of virtue who can do no wrong. The poor chap is going to be pretty shocked when he finds out his wife has a heavy chest of secrets that she hides in the dark corner of her heart. I know people are going to get all excited about how honorable Yash is and how Aarti is cheating him, but to me, this is the trademark of PV, where a characters greatest strength is also their weakness. Aarti does hide things, and deny them, but that is what helps her be the resilient, never say die fighter that we all admire. And Yash is honest, but sometimes he is too honest, which can be deeply hurtful to people. At different times, their traits come out as strengths and weaknesses in relation to one another. When Yash was being a little too honest about his feelings, post-Mumbai, when he would have done well to control them, Aarti mashed her feelings of hurt and rejection down to deal with him and take care of the kids, and she looked like the sane one. Now Aarti is lying compulsively, and he is totally honest with her, making him seem like the sane and invested one. It is all a matter of circumstance and perspective.
In the Mumbai track, Aarti had to realise that it was all about her and nobody else. Yash was not angry with her because she broke something of Arpita, or because she went out with Aman, he was angry at her for breaking their pact and then acting as if nothing at all had happened, making him feel like he had been manipulated. Here, Yash has to realise that this deception had nothing to do with him at all. Just as Aarti said to him today, there was no intention to deceive him, there was just the avoidance of a possible obstacle in saving the life of a man who was most important to her parents. And as much as Yash will feel hurt and betrayed, he will have to get over it pretty fast, and simply cannot afford to make this about himself in any way. It is kind of amazing how the writers have their characters learn the big lessons!
