Pavitra Rishta-Arjun Purvi Love Story Review.
Only in movies you see that opposites attract, so it is not a surprise that Pavitra Rishta has come up with an opposites attract love story. However, this isn't a normal love story where the introvert meets the extrovert and they fall in love. Here, the story is about an arrogant, overachiever who meets a humble sweet girl. When Arjun meets Purvi for the first time, there wasn't love at first side moments there was only war at first sight. They both couldn't stand each other.
He fired all his old workers, so that he could bring more efficient young workers. This would allow him to be cost efficient. She protested against is unjust move. "How can you do this, this workers have spent their life working for this company" she says. "Who do you think you are?" To that Mr. Arjun Kirloskar says "I am the boss of this company, you too are fired". She happily says, "Thank you for firing me, I don't want to work for someone like you anyways". He is stunted; nobody has talk to him like that before. He finally has met his match.
They might be opposites but they are also alike. Arjun grew up without a mother, his beautiful mother past away when he was very young due to an illness. He grew up idolizing her; Purvi on the other hand grew up idolizing her father. Purvi was just a little baby when her parents past away, Archana took her in and gave her a lot of love. She always listens to her mother, so when Mr. Arjun Kirloskar comes to offer Purvi her job back. Archana tells her to listen to him, she quietly obliges. At the office, Arjun tells Purvi all the work he wants her do, she tells him "Do you believe in doing all the talking or do you allow others to talk as well, when did I say I am joining the office again. I have a condition if you want me to join the office again" to that Arjun replies "I know your kind, I have increased your pay and this Miss Purvi is the reason I am the boss". Purvi pushes back the envolpe and says "I will only come back if you do not fire the senior staffs" Again Arjun was proven wrong and he reluctantly agrees.
They say soul mates are made in heaven. If that is the case, then these two souls finally become one in front of God himself. During the mahashivratri pooja, Arjun quietly follows Purvi to the temple, unknown to him he is falling in love with her. She resigns because of too much pressure from Arjun and a need to rush home to meet Vinay's parents. He starts missing her, he can't understand why is it he is not happy that she left, after all it is what he has always wanted. He offers her, her job back. She agrees. After Purvi's and Vinay's engagement is broken off, they become friends. He supports her through her pain, telling her to move on and not listen to what people have to say. Day by day they become closer.
Every story needs a bad person to bring the hero and heroine together, the same goes here. Meet Punni, Purvi's cousin who wants Arjun to herself, only for his money. After seeing Arjun purchasing a saree for Purvi and they have a beautiful slow dance together. Punni decides to break them up; she sees Arjun and Purvi together in the room working. While Arjun is helping Purvi by giving her eye drops, Punni takes a video of them. It looks like they were kissing. She sends it to everyone in the office. Arjun becomes very angry and gets into a fight with Vinay when Vinay sees the mms and starts to accuse Purvi for having feelings for Arjun; like any hero would Arjun protects his lady love. He comforts Purvi and kisses her forehead; finally he becomes aware of his feelings for her. She can't believe it and runs home.
Rain, who doesn't love the rain? It was magical when Arjun and Purvi finally confess their love for each other. Arjun confessed his love first; he waited the whole night for Purvi outside her house, every minute that past felt like year to him. All he wanted was for her to say yes. If she didn't feel the same, he would leave her alone and go to Canada. The night before he finally said, I love you. Purvi was shocked, any girl would. Her answer was, "No, middle class girls don't fall in love it is not right." He gives her time to think, in the morning when her answer was still no he leaves. Seeing him leave, makes her confused and finally when he mother says the biggest mistake I ever did was not being able to stop Manav from leaving was more than enough for her to realize, yes she was indeed in love with him. There is no way I am letting him leave. She runs after him, like anyone in love would.
How many times have we seen this in movies? The hero stops the heroine in the last minute; they hug and confess their love. Well, here comes the twist that makes this love story all more sweet and romantic, she doesn't catch him in time, his flight had left. She cries her heart out, unable to control herself; she has lost her first love, her true love. However, Arjun doesn't leave at the last minute he realizes he can't leave. He can't stay away from her. The heart wants what it wants, and his heart now only beats for Purvi. He finds her outside, she confesses her love for him and they hug each other under the beautiful mighty rain.
They say rain brings in a storm; and this rain did indeed bring in a storm. A storm named Ovi, Purvi sister. Arjun had promise to marry Ovi in Canada, something Purvi doesn't have any idea about. Sometimes, we make mistakes when emotion is running high. That is what happened here, Arjun made a mistake of not telling Purvi about Ovi and about Purvi to Ovi. Purvi leaves him after finding out the truth on Arjun Ovi engagement day. Cruel indeed, but true love passes the greatest test and they do pass this test. After six weeks, Manav and Archana find out the truth about Arjun-Purvi's relationship neither was given a chance to explain and both were slapped.
Being free of Ovi, Arjun on his white horse comes to Archana and tells her I want to marry Purvi. Archana rightly says, no. You break one of my daughter's heart and you want to marry the other. Prove your love first. She throws him a challenge and accepts it. Arjun proves his love in style; he earns 10,000 ruppes working as a mechanic and staying in a chawl in front of Purvi's house. The prince had left his kingdom for his love and as a sign of fate that this two love birds do indeed belong together, the last 200 ruppes from his 10,000 ruppes challenge come from Manav. The irony of life, unaware to Manav he has given them his blessings. Arjun also takes 2 bullets to save Purvi from kidnappers. Seeing, Arjun sacrifice his own life for Purvi. Archana finally agrees to let them get married.
Everything is going great two souls in course to become one, when lightning strikes again. Lighting never strikes twice in the same place but in Purvi's life it has. Ovi makes a deal with Purvi, she says leave Arjun and I will let your mother and my father become one. Purvi becomes confused, after all she was tricked by a master manipulator who even added I gave the same deal to your mother but she refused, to her your happiness is more important. So, tell me Purvi whose happiness is more important to you? Your mother is willing to give up me, Teju, Sachin and baba for you. Can't you give up Arjun for her? Being adopted Purvi chooses her mother's happiness, in a way to pay back Archana for everything she has done for Purvi. She tells Arjun that he should marry Ovi, only this will make her happy. He unwillingly agrees. Trying to prove he does love Purvi, he marries Ovi. Now, all three are unhappy.
Will Purvi and Arjun become one? Yes, they will. I believe in love and love always finds it way. Arjun Purvi's love is stronger than Ovi's obsession towards Arjun. You may ask what about marriage. Isn't it pure? Well to me marriage is very sacred, but when the marriage is because of blackmail it is not a real marriage. I believe True love will prevail.
