I have been doing a lot of endorsements, a lot of ads, events and charity. I have also been taking Kathak and Hindi classes. I recently even took a voice course in New York. So I've been learning and learning and just waiting for something good to come my way.

(Laughs) Well, they changed the character of the girl and they wanted another kind of look. It was a last minute change. The whole 'me being too sexy for the role' is kind of weird. But I'll take it as a compliment.

I don't have a contract with them. It was going to be signed on the basis of the film, which didn't work out.

People criticize the clothes and shoes I wear. For me, it's just someone else's opinion. Having said that, I'm not afraid of criticism. It's good when you can make criticism constructive. I've seen Rockstar again and I've noticed the things I could've done better. But at that time, for a person who came out of nowhere and didn't know much, it was fine.

Today, I can understand what people say. Thank God! It was like Chinese initially.

Well, I am very keen on doing an action or a comedy flick. I am actually very funny.

(Giggles) Yeah, I know. Maybe I'll get lucky and get to do my kind of comedy some day.

Well, I don't know what to say to that. Seriously. (Pauses) If I had really big boobs, people would talk about my boobs. I guess they haven't seen my butt. It's really big too. But it was well hidden in those Patiala salwars that I wore in Rockstar. If they saw my bum, which is bigger than my lips, they'd only be talking about that. Because I was covered throughout the film, they couldn't pick on anything else. So I don't really care about all this. Thank God they didn't say anything about my nose! I actually have a complex about my nose.

That's because people have made it like that. Someone needs to change it. It's backward. And even if it is like that, it doesn't bother me. As women, we anyway want to get married and have babies. It's like your hormones react. Plus, there are so many things out there that one can do for a living. Life is all about growing as a human being. I want to do a lot of things. Possibly have my own charity foundation one day. So just doing this isn't the end for me.

When you're the new girl in town, everyone wants to pick on you. They want to say mean things and link you with people. But women can be alone too. And in the last few years, I have had the best time being alone. I've grown so much.

I have been linked with everyone and with their mothers. It's ridiculous.

A friend, I guess.

I don't think it's possible to keep in touch with people after your movie is over. See, you have your own set of friends. It's not like he was my childhood friend, who I'd run to for everything. But when I first came here, he was a good friend. He helped me adjust. Imtiaz (Ali) did too. But now they've gone, they're busy with their lives as I am with mine.

Apparently, in a matter of a month, I was living in with two people. And someone even said that my mom came down to meet my live-in boyfriend. The truth is, my mother has never been to India. I can show you her passport.

These are people that are acquaintances. Shahid and I danced together at an awards show. That's all. Being a friend means someone who has been there for you, someone whose shoulder you can cry on. The term friendship should mean much more than just hanging out together.

Don't you go to the movies with people you meet or your friends?

We're friends rather acquaintances really. That's all.

I have met his dad (Yash Chopra)on several occasions at different gatherings. But I haven't gone to his house for dinner or anything. These stories are so baseless. This stuff used to bother me earlier. There were times when I'd really get upset. C'mon, no one wants to seem like a s**t. You know what sucks, when I meet someone and they judge me because of what they've read about me. It kind of ruins your life a little bit.

Well, I started taking care of myself when I was 12 years old. I travelled the world at my expense and never took any help. I took care of my mom. So if you've lived such a life, you're self-secure and you love yourself. So yeah, I have come a long way and I've realised the importance of being a happy soul.
