Dear Sanaya.. My Apologies

This is an open letter to Sanaya Irani. I adore her as an actor and will be grateful for giving me Khushi. But Khushi will always be a part of ArHi for me' and I cannot imagine another man or No Arnav with Khushi.

The below is my personal opinion that I am sharing with others. I have tried my best to be respectful to both the actors. Request you to do the same when you share your thoughts please!

Dear Sanaya,

I started watching IPK after 3 years of hiatus from Hindi TV soaps. Till IPK came along, I often scored unsuccessfully for a single show with amazing story or extraordinary chemistry between leads. But after a long day at work and executing multiple responsibilities, I didn't find anything on TV that made me want to invest my time and emotions into a show. There was nothing Magical about any of them.

Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon grabbed my attention because of you as Khushi Kumari Gupta. Your depiction of a small town girl with strong morals, never say die attitude and an adorable nut case is what made me tune into the show.

I was not a Barun Sobti Fan... didn't follow any of his previous shows. But, even though I never could relate to MJHT, I would stop browsing everytime I saw you come onscreen. You were the initial reason that reeled me into IPK though Khushi Kumari Gupta.

A character which I have nothing in common except my pet name, drew me into the vortex of IPK like no other. Your dazzling smile as Khushi, the priceless expressions of Khushi that you brought to life, made me cherish her. For an urban modern woman who sees nothing wrong in a live in relationship shunned the mere idea of ASR living in with Lavanya because you raised your eyebrows in shock as Khushi.

And when Khushi fell in love with Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada, how could I be far behind? So I fell in love with the love story of Arnav & Khushi as you and Barun added your touch to beautifully written, contrasting and complicated characters.

As Khushi & Arnav, you and Barun and your onscreen chemistry had me hook, line and sinker into this show. I cared for the characters, laughed when they smiled, cried in pain when they suffered and blushed when they romanced. I believed in 2 fictional characters and lived every moment with them only because you and Barun breathed life into them.

I fell in love with This'. Fell in Love with Love again'.

Through this show, I have learnt to appreciate the 200 odd crew who helped Arnav & Khushi take shape. I have admired Ved's writing, loved and bashed Gautam's screenplay as my heart soared or dipped, admired Lalit Mohan & Arshad's direction. The music and light departments that have impressed me, the editing team that I have criticized, excelled in Gautam Hegde & Arshad Khan's combined efforts in a show after one they did together on Star One 2.5 years ago.

I have loved Daljeet as Anjali, Akshay & Deepali as Akaash & Payal, fangurled Naniji & Buaji, cursed Shyam as Abhaas portrayed it convincingly, cheered NK & Mamiji.

Every appreciation for the actors and the crew was possible because I watched the show regularly. But I didn't watch the show for any of them... I watched the show because of you, Sanaya Irani as KKGSR and Barun Sobti as ASR.

You both are the magnet that had me attached to the show, the adhesive that added the stickiness to continue with the show even when I didn't agree with certain plots.

Arnav & Khushi are amazingly well written characters. But the characters came to life on screen because both of you made them come alive with your acting. Your magnificent rendition made us believe that you are the face of KKGS and Barun of ASR.

I remember, Ved in one of his interviews had mentioned that they could make Arnav & Khushi just look at each other & Rabba Ve one full episode and the audience would still love it. How true ! Arnav & Khushi just standing together onscreen is enough to make me smile at the end of a long day. That Arnav & Khushi, who are made so believable by Barun & you.

So today, it is impossible for to even contemplate watching Khushi with another Arnav. Or seeing Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada without her Arnavji. Or Arnav Singh Raizada with a new face. I cannot do it.

I know there is a large crew whose combined effort has given us the show that we love. But if I were to watch shows only for their crew and their good work, I could be watching any show. I could be watching Lamp & wick or G.Bahu show, because I am sure their crew does a lot of hard work too. But I don't.

And if the crew & the rest of the actors are the reason why we should continue with the show, then I wonder why the Makers posted on an open forum, the show "has run it's course". Were they not worried about the crew then? Typically, every organization (small or big) spends about 40% of their revenues on Payroll for its resources. That's a lot of money to forget about by the PH when they posted that there is no further story to keep the show going.

And why are we being asked to watch the show without one of it's protagonist, when they admitted sometime back that there is no story? Today, as a viewer I am being asked to watch the show with No ASR or an ASR being played by someone else other than Barun. Both are equally unpalatable to me.

This is not only about Barun leaving. If I was asked to watch the show where there was No Khushi played by you, have no doubt, my reaction would be exactly the same.

You and Barun together made IPK what it is today for me. IPK is about Arnav & Khushi, about Barun & your depiction of them onscreen.

Any other combination of actors will not work for me in this story. I cannot, for the life of me watch this show if it doesn't have you and Barun as the protagonist for this.

Hence after Barun leaves, I will watch Old Arnav Khushi scenes and VMs made on Barun & Sanaya as Arhi and hope someday soon I can move on.

So I apologize to you Sanaya'. I cannot watch you as Khushi with another actor or a different ASR in IPK.

I cannot see My Khushi, the Khushi I have loved and adored with any other Man than ASR played by Barun Sobti. I just CAN'T.

Ofcourse, this is only my personal opinion and of some of my friends'. There are many who are better fans and can watch Khushi with another actor. I unfortunately, am not that strong.

I sure hope to catch some of your future show because you are an amazing actress. Just like I hope to watch a show of Barun soon, since I have realized that he is an absolutely brilliant actor.

But I cannot watch IPK without you or Barun in it. Because I am old enough to know that Magic happens only once in a blue, blue moon.

I not that good a wordsmith that I can explain how we feel about you and Barun as Khushi & Arnav. So I am taking the help of one VM on Arhi by my friend Zoha.

For a moment, I urge you to forget that there were multiple people around while a scene was shot or how you laughed before a romantic scene but see it like we see it.

And I am hoping you will understand why it's not possible for me to watch Mrs. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada with another man, played by anyone else but Barun Sobti.

I hope you see what we saw'. MAGIC!!
