Scissor me not?

After the highly debated film censorship, it's now TV content which is the hot target of snipping fingers!

Post the 7/11 blasts there were debates about news channels flashing gory photographs of the victims. Talking about the daily sagas - be it the rape sequence in Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi, or the multiple-extra marital affairs in almost all shows, the cozy scenes in Viraasat and Kasamh Se and the violence depicted in, believe it or not, cartoon channels…..all this and much more has come under scrutiny!

A recent censorship order was passed by the Bombay High Court blanking out 'A' and 'U/A' content aired on TV. Do we really need a regulatory body which will decide what we watch at home, sitting as couch fries?

Achint Kaur-"A family is responsible!"

Everything is made for a certain age group. It's an individual decision to let their children watch what they want to. Banning all channels is certainly not a solution. In my opinion nothing should be banned, as nothing comes across as being vulgar! It's the family who should decide and take sensible actions.

Hiten Tejwani-"They should place adult content on late time slots"

Instead of banning content which is not for all age groups, they should place it on late time slots, so that the viewers who want to watch it don't have any issues with the censorship body. But censoring content from the cartoon shows is unbelievable! The daily soaps revolve around pure drama. If it's about true stories being showcased on soaps or shows, then they do need a regulatory body!

i completely agree with hiten and achint, i mean right now in this age not everything is meant for family. I mean there are some shows that only adults should see, and some only teenagers should see. They should really put rating on all the shows and tell the viewer what age it's appropriate for. And then it's the parents responsibility of knowing what their child's watching. In the US we have a system of ratings in movies and tv shows that works great. I meant you to the movies and if you want to watch a movie rated 17 and older you have to show an ID. I definitly agree nothing should be really banned unless it's really really inappropriate.
