'I can't work without Sanju'

Although Sanjay Dutt's fate is yet to be decided in the blast case, pal Mahesh Manjrekar is already planning a movie with him

Mahesh Manjrekar's last few films might not have been able to create waves at the box office but the maverick director cum actor already has a couple of films planned for the future. And one of them is with good friend Sanjay Dutt. "I had announced a film called An Unusual Love Story with him I'll do it next year because I want to complete it in one schedule," he says. But what about Sanjay's verdict which is still to be decided by the TADA court? "He'll come out absolutely clean," says Mahesh firmly. He adds, "There's someone up there looking after him and soon people will realise that he's a wonderful human being. I can't work without Sanju," he adds with a smile. Movies apart, Mahesh is enjoying his stint as a dancer in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. And to his surprise, the audience as well as the judges are liking his performances. "My daughter is stunned," he laughs, adding that she had thought her father has gone mad when he had told her about participating in the show. Apparently, it is the tapori touches he's put in his salsa and rhumba dances that are getting him all the whistles. "I told my choreographer that the audience will not be able to identify with these complex dance forms for the whole time. So I told her to stick to the dance form but asked her to incorporate a bit of Mahesh in it too," he smiles.
